I have always heard about trout magnets and I thought they were a jig system. It turns out the trout magnet is Eric82. Great job on the stream bed fish! Any larger fish on your trip?

I fished Roaring river and caught four rainbows, which I will post about tomorrow. I also caught what appears to be a stream bred rainbow trout from a river system that I did not know even had trout (that's the teaser!).

Montauk was really crowded but tan vat downstream wasn't bad at all.  I was pretty much by myself. I can't speak for upstream. Thanks for the kind words Johnsfolly. I caught a few decent sized ones on Friday at the park but only the little guys down at tan vat. I was letting a soft hackle swing into the bank. That's where they would strike. I had a lot of short strikes too. The key was letting the fly dangle in the current longer than usual.

I have not had much success at Tan Vat. I do much more Current fishing downstream and focus more on brown trout. Sounds like the soft hackle is what they wanted. Those little guys have great color.

Good for you...B. Piney looked like it would be no fun and slightly dangerous on Saturday AM, so we ran a couple folks over to the upper Current. Very crowded @ Montauk, Tan Vat & Baptist...looked like outfitters from the lower river were running Baptist to Cedar because the river was closed downstream. Water was up about 6" or a 1' but looked to be in great shape. Did not fish, just ran shuttle from Baptist to Park.

Sure looks like it's been in the river it's whole life thus far. Really nice looking fish.
