On Friday I drive to Omaha to meet a Canadian guy and hopefully sell the boat. He calls nearly every day with questions. Clearly he wants the boat, he has agreed to the price, but this is his first real boat purchase and he is nervous. In Canadian dollars and with taxes, the boat will "cost" him 1.5 times my US dollars sale price. Meantime, the boat sits in my drive. I typically go out early and fish until noon on major holiday weekends, but with the sale pending, I have chosen not to do this.

I took advantage of the boat sale clean out to reorganize my tackle and clean everything up a bit last week. That left me with a "What do I do?" weekend.

I started tying walleye harnesses. I thought I would post a few pictures and pose some questions.

How many of you make things you use to fish? What kinds of things? Would you be willing to share pictures?

Those harnesses look like they should catch fish. I hand paint my hard body lures. I do it with a brush. Most don't look as good as the air brushed lures I have seen others posting here. Don't think I have any photos.

rps do you ever use big colorado blades on your spinners?

say a 6 or 7 size

those bigger blades really work well on Bull in the summer when they get in that 35-50 zone

everything chartreuse

the beads, body,blade ,hooks

I use big blades later in the summer, yes. #5 and 6. I have never done a solid chartreuse, though. When I go huge, I go silver blades over chartreuse bodies. I also tend to use willow. French, and Dakota blades rather the Colorado. I would be interested to see what you do.

I wonder if there is anyone on here who can remember the granddaddy of all single spins. It was called the Hell Diver. Had a blade on it the size of a babies hand.

I remember seeing those in my Dad and Grandpa's tackle boxes.

the bass buster tarantula was a good one too. I still use them and have a couple dozen unused too.

What I make-- snelled spinners, including those with a hooch body, jig heads, sinkers, rods, leadcore segments, and flies. Once I get the kitchen done, I'll start tying crappie jigs.  I also make things for the boat: tool holders where appropriate, and my next project will be a catfish-sized ice chest. I'm also considering a pram for some of the strip pits up here, but there is a list that needs to be finished first.

I have no images at the moment, but when a couple of projects finish, I'll work on that.
