My great friend Hog Wally invited my wife and daughter and I to their piece  of heaven on the Meramec. My wife had never met Aaron's wife or been to his place before.....the whole way home she kept saying over and over how Aaron and his wife were some of the best people she has met in a long time and kept giving me shiot about why I hadn't  hooked her up with Hog Wally's  wife sooner :)

Hog and his wife were such awesome hosts and their place is so nice it makes you not want to leave......we would have stayed the night on their beach in lawn chairs......I don't think we left until 10:30pm.Hog BBQED up some Mule hoof pork he butchered  that was mouth watering and we enjoyed some killer wine and champagne  that was even better.

The river was still up about a foot with not great visibility and with the heavy boat traffic the water clarity  went down hill all day. We fished a little during the day and caught six 14 to 15 inch smallies but had to work very hard for those and just went back to our ladies at his beach.

While sitting there  Cooking food and drinking wine we both kept saying the majic  hour is coming right before sunset and we both agreed  we should go do a short run and throw the most aggressive  Topwater  we could get going.

We were talking about Al's report the other day where it seemed  to be from Al that the fish were just on the verge of breaking out of the post spawn pattern and spreading out to the summer haunts.

We went to one spot and had all kinds of nice blow ups on our topwater, Aaron had what I will call a beast hit his plug and inexplicably not hook up.....I saw the head on the fish and it was LARGE.

Aaron launched his bait across  the river to a seam off of a rock point and wham! Another great hit but it missed and to Aaron's  credit he did NOT pull that plug out of there all excited like most will, he kept walking the bait and Wham!...it hit again!!! And no hook up again!!!...all in all this fish hit his bait 5 times and finally hooked up. This smallie was not gonna be denied.

This fish fought like champ as well, very cool...when Aaron  hoisted it up he had caught yet another 18+ smallie, 20 on the dot to be exact.

Sorry about the pic Aaron and I were a little silly when we went out in the evening but it was a fitting  end to a killer day spent having my family hang in Aaron's little piece of paradise.

Hog Wally your wife is an absolute  doll and so fun to talk with, your daughters are beautiful and Emily's first words out of her mouth this morning were when do we get to go back to Aaron's???hahahaha

Thanks a million buddy you guys ROCK!!!!

That's exactly what you need to do! Just keep sharing pics of all those 18'-20'+ fish.
