anyone noticed a lg mouth bite being better on craws or shad type baits this summer

I fish the dam area most of the time so my species percentage may be skewed since most of the time I am catching smallies or spots. But the largies that I do catch are usually more on shad profile baits and the smallies on craw profile baits. Largies also seem to like the big 10" worms more so than smallies. Spots don't discriminate and will eat a fluttering license plate.

If I was going to specifically target largemouths, I would probably go to a football jig with a large profile craw trailer (Big Bite Battle Bug is a good one) and keep myself close to bluff ends at all times. The presence of standing timber or brush piles could only help.

This is good info. Largies are lazy and usually stick tight to cover (as Champ said - timber, brush, laydowns, docks). Smallmouth and Spots are rovers following their forage while largies lay in wait and are ambusher's.

Yep, definitely good info here, now you just have to get out there and apply yourself, concentrate on areas you fish, learn those areas well and carry all that experience to new places. Big payoff when you put it all together and get something figured out, just remember Rome wasn't built in a day and do not get discouraged!!

Do you all use trailer hooks for your trailers or do you just put whatever your using directly on the jig hook?

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

Trailer threaded directly on to the jig hook.
