Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted June 25, 2016 Root Admin Posted June 25, 2016 If you're fishing Table Rock Lake, I will move this to that forum for you - you'll get more help. If you're fishing exclusively the James River, this is where you want to be. Just let me know.
Members oldfatfart66 Posted June 26, 2016 Author Members Posted June 26, 2016 Yes please and thank you.
abkeenan Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 I can't be much of help as I am not a River Rat like some of the other guys here. Just keep tabs on the forum to see what guys are catching bass on. Different sections of the lake fish differently from day to day or week to week. There is usually a James River report thrown up here in the forum once or twice a week. Good luck and hopefully someone will chime in with help in that area of the lake.
Champ188 Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 There are some good strings of bass being caught on long runout points on the James, especially where timber is present. Most of the fish are 20-30 feet deep. PBJ football jig with a green pumpkin double tail trailer will catch 'em as good as anything. If you see them chasing, have a swimbait or smallish flutter spoon (Dixie Jet) handy to hurl into them. Codywskeeter1521 and oldfatfart66 2
Codywskeeter1521 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 I fish the james weekly. Was up there yesterday from 3pm to 130am. Caught several fish on long points with a football jig. Then found some fish on the main creek channel 30ft deep on the tops of the trees. I was throwing a square bill making long cast along or on top of the trees. After dark went to a wobblehead with a beaver. On bluff ends caught several more doing this. I'd say we had 15 to 25 fish with 8 keepers. Wasn't a bad day. Don't be afraid to throw a buzz bait ( black seems to be my best) around trees/brush and come back with that jig. I had my two kids so fishing to close to the bank would of been a nightmare. Please don't hesitate to holler at me if you have any questions. Hope this helps. The james can be tricky from day to day. It's changes constantly. oldfatfart66 and Champ188 2
Champ188 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Pretty good day, Cody. How in the world did you get those kids to last 10.5 hours? Codywskeeter1521 1
Codywskeeter1521 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Hey champ thanks. Its been a pretty good year for me up there. Finally started to put the pieces to the puzzle together. (Unlike last year it was rough) Well I'm lucky to enough to have a wife and both my boys that are just as addicted to fishing as I am ???. By 10 both boys we're passed out in the floor while the wife was was sleeping on the back deck by 12 ????.. So as they we're sleeping I was fishing...
Codywskeeter1521 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Does it get any better then this? Look at that smile??.. I did forget the compromises on the swimming breaks that was worked in on the 10.5 hours..?? cheesemaster, MOPanfisher and SplitG2 3
Champ188 Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 That's some quality family time right there. Can't beat fishing for togetherness and fun. Keep it up, Cody. Codywskeeter1521 1
