Smithvillesteve Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 I read yesterday that the MLB tournament at LOZ was a huge success. I guess the fishermen have swore to secrecy about totals and winner. All for the tv suspense I guess. The best thing I read was that they weighed fish and released the bass immediately! My hat is off to them!! With the unexpected high temperatures for June we all know it cant be good to haul bass around all day in a livewell. Sure wish we could get more tournaments to follow this lead. Anyway, I just wanted to give them a shout out for doing this.
Sore Thumbs Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 They do it the right way for sure. To do it on a large scale will be a tall task. Gotta have everyone able to have a phone signal to report catches. Have to be like the BFL where a stranger is in the boat to keep everyone honest. It is the future of tournaments for sure. Gotta work the bugs out. Nimrod Nick 1
ramman123 Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Actually all you do is save pic of fish (Kayak/measureboard) or (fish&scale/weight) and enter it when u get service. I know Iangler u can submit pics without signal and once signal is received it will send to be Qualified. It has worked well with kayak tournaments Nimrod Nick 1
Champ188 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 The old guard, who make up a big portion of tournament entries, is never going to go for anything but traditional weigh-ins. Seeing is believing. I don't care how many pics you take and save or what kind of measuring board/tournament bracelet you include in the pics. It's already possible to cheat in a traditional tournament. The good ol' boys aren't about to open the door to more possibilities of shenanigans. Not saying those immediate release derbies aren't a good thing. They are great for the health of the fish. I'm just saying we aren't gonna see it happen anytime soon. Codywskeeter1521, Sore Thumbs, dtrs5kprs and 3 others 6
ramman123 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Well its better for the Fisheries when the Fish are released upon catch because they arent out of the water for that much time. Times are changing and if you guys dont like the Rules then u can stay to your own clubs and not complain about how others run theirs. Besides with Programs like IAngler fish biologist can track specific species/ at Specific fisheries to help with fish studies. We all want better Fisheries but then alot of you guys complain about how things r done its impossible to please everyone. i would guarantee the fish release rate compare to you guys hauling them in every Friday, Sat or Sun will have a better survival rate then u all releasing them at weigh in and majority of them dieing because shock or stress
ramman123 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Champ Well i Suggest to your Tournament Group that they have Volunteer judges ride around and measure fish/ document fish so they can be released. The MLF (Major League Fishing) does it and those pros dont seem to have an issue and they use electronic system to log fish.
Members fullmoon Posted June 26, 2016 Members Posted June 26, 2016 gee i thought it was MLB (Major League Baseball) and the strike zone. usa made outdoors and vernon 2

I think everyone would agree that it would be better overall for any fishery but you cant be mad at champ for speaking the truth. He's right about the majority of tournaments not being open to this format. Also to suggest that your average run of the mill tourney's "have volunteer judges" is not as easy as you suggest. This format works for MLF because its made for tv with some of the best anglers in the world. I don't know too many people sitting around out there willing to be an voluntary judge for a no name circuit. In addition to that most local circuits barely have the man power to pull of a traditional style weigh in let alone round up a judge for every boat. So all this to say I really enjoy MLF(it's my favorite series to watch) and their format but at this time there's really no great way to integrate it to your average club or series. shark bait, Nimrod Nick, Champ188 and 4 others 7
Ketchup Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Love the format, but it will never go wide scale. Just not enough non-boaters to find standing around willing to go out 8 hours a day for nothing but a ham sammich and no pay. Won't happen. Nimrod Nick 1 TinBoats BassClub. ramman123 Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Well if there are so many Circuits then why dont they Start combining to make larger groups, its because some dont like the other guys rules or what ever and start their own groups instead of all get along and play in the playground. As much money that is spent in the lil clubs or Circuits there should be more than enough to cover the cost of Electronic tracking and maybe not as big of pay out. Also alot of these circuits have older gentlemen that arent up for change so they are going to fight tooth and nail about not having a physical weigh-in/check-in when in retrospect it is actually faster to have it all sorted out by electronic counting so that means less time waiting for results. If you guys never give this a chance then you all really shouldnt have much to complain about at least until u try it
