I would stick with Daiwa if I were getting another egg beater (or baitcaster for that matter). I have a Plueger Supreme MGX which I really like but I feel like Daiwa is putting out the best products these days. They have A MILLION reels at various price points so something for everyone's budget from low-mid-high end stuff. I think Babler said he is a big fan of the Procyon. I can't say enough about the Daiwa Tatula. I wouldn't have any issues of having an entire fleet of them as my only baitcaster. Can be had brand new for around $90 from Sportsman Outfitters or Ebay and for that price the things are awesome. I hate to admit it but I like them better than my Lew's.

Daiwa hit a home run on the Tatula, especially at $90.  The one I have casts well, doesn't backlash more than any other BC I own, feels well machined, and a smooth drag.  I have heard some complaints that they are a bit big compared to other BC's, and I'm sure it's an issue for some, but not for me.

I have enjoyed my Lew's tournament, and american hero. They are both 6:1

Yep. They are worth the $150 MSRP but at $95ish bucks they are killer. I like them just as well as my Curado E. When I was down last week, was fishing at night and forgot what combo I had in my hand at one point and couldn't tell the difference between the Tatty and Curado E if it weren't for the different handle grips. The Curado E's still go for like $150 used and almost $200 new as they are one of the best reels Shimano ever put out. Not sure if the Tatula's will have the staying power and durability as the Curado E but as of right now I don't have a preference of one over the other. The Tattys are that good IMO.

I also have a Revros spinner and like others have said it's a nice reel for $50. Daiwa seems like a master at machining metal much like Shimano. Everything they are putting out is a well meshed product. No play in the gears or anti reverse and things like that. I can't even imagine their super high end stuff if their low to mid range price point products are this good. Babler did let me throw his Steez gear when we went out with him last year and that stuff is just on another level.

Just retired this one yesterday.  21 years old without a problem.  I had two, what I thought were two solid hook sets yesterday with a fluke only to have the fish spit them.  I thought something had to be wrong.  Sure enough the frame that holds the bail wire is cracked and the bail was collapsing under pressure.  It's so old and if you shake it, it rattles.  Put it on the fireplace mantel and bought another Pflueger.  Bass pro doesn't carry Daiwa and I like to buy from a place I can return it in person if it shoots craps quickly.
