My many sponsors insist that if I have one of their logos on my jersey, then I must have it on the buff. Well if ya gona fish in the buff then i guess you gona have to get some tattoos of your sponsors on you... Because even the sun would go into hiding after that sighting of an OA forum member fishing with two rods out at the same time. Daryk Campbell Sr, Champ188 and big c 3

You know, like a Shaw Grigsby starter kit. If it's a Duckett or Daiwa brand that would be a D-Bag kit. Champ188, Daryk Campbell Sr, Ellros and 1 other 4
buckcreekmike Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I can't say I really like how they look, but sun protection is a concern of mine. I just think it looks like it would be hot. Are they hot to wear?
Pepe Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Being an industrial painter, I got used to covering up to protect from over-spray and it becomes routine to work with an old t-shirt around the head. About a month after 9/11 we had a project at a water treatment facility outside a medium-size Illinois town. One morning the police rolled in - hard. Each car carried at least one very serious dude - fully armed and prepared for trouble. Turns out we looked like a crew of terrorists, at least to the folks who called the cavalry. It all ended okay, nobody shot or in handcuffs, but it still makes me chuckle when Lily tries to get me to wear the Buff in sunny weather.

I just think it looks like it would be hot. Are they hot to wear? Not at all. I wear a buff, gloves, and a long sleeve sun shirt. I thought it would be hot as well but it actually keeps me cooler than I am in a t-shirt and shorts. Plus you can dip it in the water occasionally when it's really hot out, although I've heard that reduces the sun protection somehow. I'm what I affectionately like to call "neon white", I get burned if the moon is too bright while I'm night fishing. I'm not confident in getting sunblock everywhere my skin is exposed, especially the bends and folds of my ears, lips, backs of my arms, ect. I also buzz my hair and anyone that's ever burnt their scalp can tell you, it sucks. It's about impossible to cover it with sunblock, and a hat can only cover so much of my oversized dome. I know several guys, some of them not even that old, missing big chunks from their arms, face, one that's missing a good portion of his ear, it's not a good look. I bet Ol' Mark Davis wishes he'd worn one his whole career so he didn't have to wear a big bandaid on his lip. I know it's not the best look, my wife thinks I look ridiculous (which doesn't just go for when I'm going fishing honestly), but I'm going to do what I can to protect myself so this sport I love so much doesn't end up killing me.
