Man you guys are way more optimistic about MIZZOURAH than me.

I see them getting crushed by WVU in the first game and the rest will be very similar...IMO they are by far the worst team in the SEC, ft hey will be true blood donors  this year.

I think Barry will be lucky to get two wins....I really hope I'm  wrong but, there talent level is bad compared  to the rest of their conference.

Geez, Scot, are you always this pessimistic?  Don't you know the late summer is a time for great optimism about your team??

The defense doesn't lose much except for the linebacker.  Losing him to graduation hurts, but I'm fairly confident somebody will step up.  Losing Brady through him apparently being a knucklehead or worse hurts the d-line a bit but they still have plenty of d-linemen that can play.

Offense...Lock has all the tools, and can make the throws if he isn't running for his life.  Lots of Mizzou qbs have looked mediocre or worse their first year and ended up being really good.  They have some big, and apparently talented backs to run the ball, with Witter as the change of pace back; he looked a little better toward the end of last year.  They have a ton of receivers; surely a few of them will be better than last year, including the graduate transfer from Bama.  And I'm expecting smart coaching from the new o-coordinator.  Coaching hurt the offense almost as much last year as having a horrible o-line.  And maybe, just maybe, some new schemes will minimize the o-line weaknesses.

One thing everybody seemed to overlook last year was that special teams play was horrible.  The offense, which needed all the help they could get, was forever starting drives inside their own 20.  They got some speedy guys who can run the ball back, which they didn't have last year.

With all that...if the o-line doesn't improve significantly, we're looking at a 4-8 season, or maybe one game better.  If the o-line does improve significantly, six and six or seven and five.  Fifty-fifty on making a bowl game.

I know I am a pessimistic biotch....I'm  just going off off the talent they have versus the rest of the SEC. They are very low in Talent but, I like Odom and can be patient especially  if he can capture the talent that is in this state :)

The rivers  are never gonna clear up around here....we  need you to come back and maybe we can get a log period  of no rain.....Hog Wally  and his brother and I fished this morning and still 6 inches  or less of visibility but we still caught a bunch of course just nothing  to get your blood pressure  up

As Al said it all comes down to the O-line. I think Lock takes a big step forward but we won't notice if he's running for his life every snap. The defense should be really good again, maybe not top 5 in the country like last year, but good enough to keep us in every game except maybe a couple (@LSU is the one that I just can't convince myself we'll stick around in.) In all, a lot of uncertainty, but....I just dropped more than I can really afford on season tickets, and predictions are fun (even if the predicted results aren't so fun)!

1. @WVU 20-17 L 0-1

I think we can slow WVU down, but their defense is actually kinda underrated, and I don't see the offense being very good in week one. Closer than expected, but it's still hard to predict a win.

2. Eastern Michigan 34-10 W 1-1

Eastern Michigan isn't very good at football these days. Mizzou should win. Enough said.

3. UGA-31-14 L 1-2

I don't think it will be a total blowout in Columbia (although we all know that can happen) but their running backs will get theirs even on this defensive line and they have the defensive talent to erase our offense until garbage time.

4. Delaware State-51-3 W 2-2

They were really not very good at all, in the "wild comeback in final game to avoid winless season" sense. Missouri will be mad and it will be over quick.

5.@LSU 41-10 L 2-3

Nope.

6.@UF 21-3 L 2-4

Their offense should not be great. But their defense makes it not worth even bringing ours to Gainesville. Repeat of last years game. 2-4 is because of the schedule, but people start to panic big time at this point.

7. Middle Tennessee-31-20 W 3-4

Not a fun homecoming game. Not an SEC opponent, but they could still beat us in Columbia. Don't think they will, though. The team should be desperate, and should get the win.

8. Kentucky-24-20 W 4-4

The offense is starting to get in a rhythm at this point. And UK hopefully will be well into their annual second half of the season nosedive in time for the trip to Columbia.

9. @SC 14-10 W 5-4

I think the most important game in terms of getting to a bowl. But they are one of 2-3 teams in the SEC that appear to have less talent than MIzzou, and I'm not sure they have a coaching advantage either. And while the other Columbia is tough to play in, SC could easily be 2-6 and really beat down. Mizzou wins ugly.

10. Vandy 10-7 W 6-4

That first half schedule gives way to four really winnable games. I think they sweep the four, with the three harder matchups coming at home (yes, I think MTSU and Vanderbilt are better than South Carolina this year) This game will be an atrocity to humankind, whoever wins. Two great defenses, zero good offenses.

11. @UT.31-10 L 6-5

And that (hopefully) feel good four game run is now come to a definitive close.

12. Arkansas-27-24 L 6-6

Arkansas should be better than Missouri this year, possibly by a lot. But I think it's at least close in Columbia.

First year coach. Coming off terrible offensive year. Defensive studs gone. O line questionable.

Mizzou just doesn't have the talent to have a winning season.

Still, I will root, root, root for the home team.

And, Roll Tide.

I've sort of come around to liking Nick Saban. I don't root for Alabama, but I don't like the idea of disliking a coach just because he's successful. And especially compared to some of the guys roaming the sideline in the SEC, he seems like a pretty decent guy. The guy is  a genius, and I think you have to respect that.

If anyone has to win the SEC West I'm more fine with 'bama than anyone else.

Mizzou certainly has a lot of questions, but dang, I can't wait until September 3rd, all the same.

The guy is good at his job. Nobody is denying that. El Chapo was great at his job too so I guess he also deserves respect.

Saban is a dirty greasy turd. I'm not knocking his skills but that doesn't mean he's a good person.

Comparing El Chapo to Nick Saban is a lazy and weak argument. Not to mention nonsense.

A "good" person is subjective, especially to those millions of us who don't know him personally.

If you and your family are passengers on a plane, would you rather have a pilot that was well liked, a "good" guy, but not really that competent, or a hard head jerk who is unloved, but generally perceived as the best in the business?  (speaking of weak arguments)

Yes, because Nick Saban and El Chapo are basically the same person.

Saban is most def NOT a Good Guy. Lots of stories outta Baton Rouge, Miami, and Alabama that point this out. Sure he generally knows how to act when a reporter puts a mic in his face, but that's not a full representation of his behavior.

Did anyone see anything about the kid that wanted to transfer away from bama to UGA? Classic Saban lack of maturity and spitefulness. No reason to try to block him from having a final year of football.

Great Football mind. Terrible person.
