Sprint21fter Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Fished club tournament out of Old 86, with a crisp air temp of 59 and no clouds, figured it would be tough but to only get 3 bites all day and my non-boater to get 5 bites it was a head scratcher. Had plenty of bait in the areas that I fished but not much for active fish. 1 keeper for me that was 3 1/4lbs, and co-angler had 2 nice 16 inch brownies. Not a single 5 fish limit was brought in out of 29 fisherman. Big fish was a nice 3.70lb brownie on the boater side and a 3.55 black was big fish on the non-boater side. All our fish was caught on topwaters, I mixed in a spoon throughout the day without a bite. Most of the fish that were caught were caught in the first hour in a half. magicwormman, Champ188, Quillback and 1 other 4
abkeenan Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 Must be tough if not a single person out of the 29 had a limit. That really says it all.
Sprint21fter Posted August 22, 2016 Author Posted August 22, 2016 Sometimes the fish just don't bite when you are there. There is always next time. It had been cloudy for several days in a row and I am sure that the fish partied their heads off and rested until the sun went down.
merc1997 Bo Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 i would guess that they may have just suspended out in the middle of nothing. that really makes for difficult conditions to catch anything. bo
Nitro 750 Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 Sounds like a tough day of fishing, but better than a day at work!!!
Quillback Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 The dog days of August, come on October! magicwormman 1
Fishrman Posted August 23, 2016 Posted August 23, 2016 I fished the same tournament as Sprint, and I can say it was a long time between bites. Even the ones who showed themselves were not committing to the bait. I may have boated 10 fish and I feel lucky to have done that. I was throwing the same baits as everyone else, I am not a deep fisherman so that should tell you what I was doing. Anyway, good times are a comin'. Champ188 1
