Jacob McIntosh Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Well if you don't know the difference in a wild trout and a stocker then please just go get your four at the park and move on. There is no difference on crane and spring creek look at the map above springcreek enters below the blue ribbon area and holds wild trout has for many years but you can keep four of them.

Can and should are two different things. They have been there for a very long time. But Like I said, if you are looking for a meal there are better places to go.
Jacob McIntosh Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 I'm not saying I would keep them but I'm saying people are doing it right now and it's legal. I was asking why spring creek was not included if they are the same fish.
Gavin Posted May 23, 2017 Posted May 23, 2017 Legal and the right thing to do are usually not the same thing. Legal means the jackboots can't fine or confine you for it. Not the same as the right thing to do.

After fishing them across the state, each designated trout stream has MDC accessibility that would allow them implement these regulations as well as to provide access, stock, monitor fisherman compliance, etc. much easier than if they tried to deal with private landowners. I realize that although there are there are several MDC accesses on the creek, a fair portion of Crane creek blue ribbon designation is covered by private land. It may be that because of the nature of the fish residing in Crane that the MDC may have been able to convince landowners of providing that level of protection. The blue ribbon designation was also to identify those sections of creek that have conditions that would allow for successful spawning to occur. So it's possible that Spring creek does not provide the MDC the ability to monitor compliance or does not in of itself satisfy the criteria for the blue ribbon designation. Just some thoughts.
