Did a paddle up from an access on Saturday. It was quite a workout for a fat guy in a kayak. Lots of flat shallow water. Lots of walking and towing a boat behind. Fished a bit on the way up and caught only smallmouth on soft plastics. Little over a mile and half up I made the turn and started my journey back to the access. Decided to spend most of my time walking the dog back down but the only walker I had was a Zara Puppy with some hooks in pretty bad shape. I lost some fish, I missed some fish, including a beauty of a largemouth. But it was a good time and well worth the effort.

@Flysmallie what do you use to edit your photos?

Lightroom, Photoshop and NIK

Mostly just Lightroom though. I take them into Photoshop if they need a lot of corrections or cloning something out like the water spot in the second picture. NIK is neat but I only use it to give it a drastic over processed look.

I like to paddle up from Crighton. It's a bit of a chore to get up there, but there are some wing dikes a ways up that are fun to fish around.

That water you went through seems to be full of those 12 to 15 inch green fish. I have a lot of fun with them.

Cool pics :)....I really like the one of the Ascend sitting in the water.....even though I ragged them before your purchase. It is just such a blast to get out and paddle up and down a stream....pure tonic for the soul IMO. Kudos to you for getting out, I sure wish I had some time to get out....my life is just nuts right now. By the way the seat in that ascend looks pretty sweet

They were a lot of fun.  Thats interesting water through there.  At Crighton its basically boring frog water, but when you paddle down a ways, it turns into a very small creek again, and then past that it opens up to wide deep water and you think you've arrived at the back-up from the lake, but then it changes again back to creek.  We did a lot of dragging separated by lots of paddling.  Fish seemed to be concentrated in certain spots.  In one small hole I caught 5 nice greenies on 5 consecutive casts.  And they were aggressive. Then the next hole had nothing.  Weird.

Thanks. Everybody ragged on the Ascend pretty good and my dumb butt still bought one. There are better kayaks out there that are lighter, faster, track better, etc... But I knew I needed to just grab something and get after it. It might not have been the best decision but it wasn't a bad decision either. Whatever it takes to put you on the water.

And yes that seat is pretty sweet. I'm more comfortable in it than any canoe seat I have ever tried. I've made 7 short trips in the kayak since the 10th of July for a total of 23 hours of seat time. They are all short quick trips but it's just good to be out there.
