That is exactly what lead me into this career field. I was either going to have to learn how to outfish everyone on the planet, or I was going to have to become a quality boat service guy. At first I thought I could do both....but I quickly saw where that was leading me. If all outboards were the same (and they stayed that way awhile) then outboard techs could be bought pretty cheap, but the constant studying and testing different theory's on various designs makes it more of a lifestyle than a "job". If you don't eat, sleep, and breathe it then you are nothing but a guesser and a parts changer, and you'll never make it. Even aviation techs have it easier than outboard mechanics. 176champion, merc1997 Bo and magicwormman 3

The automotive industry is worse regarding technology...it changes every day..15,000 dollar scanner just to tell someone that there gas cap is loose which is turning on check engine light...lol I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! fishinwrench Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Yeah the conspiracy of requiring scanners to read fault codes is a dirty rotten trick. Those codes could be easily displayed right next to the SES light or converted to flash codes like the early 90's Chevy's did. Same can be said for the fault codes on outboard computer controlled systems. They just want someone "qualified" to service the unit for warranty liability protection. That's all well and good as long as the consumer doesn't have to pay extra for it. But they do.

Champ188 Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Buck, "boat" is not an actual word ... it's an acronym for Break Out Another Thousand. Buck, Sore Thumbs, Daryk Campbell Sr and 3 others 6

Kimberly Acup upholstery just south of the intersection of 160 and EE at Highlandville, MO Professional work. She repaired a section of my passenger seat after my son left a spot light on it. Llebroc was not helpful at identifying the colored vinyl that they made the seat out of. Kimberly utilized the existing material and replaced the damaged material. Very skilled and resourceful. Top notch work. Champ188 and magicwormman 2
