Actually yes. And they did fine.  I do think a slightly stiffer rid works better on something that uses a hook like that but....never had a problem with any bait losing fish with these rods.

If you're losing contact (pressure) on the fish, sounds like your rod action is too heavy. I use nothing bigger than 6-pound test on my spinning rods, none of which are heavier than M/Fast, and I'm lake fishing most of the time, so I catch fish up to 5-6 pounds on them. If the tip of the rod doesn't stay bent during the tussle, you're gonna lose a bunch of fish.

Ever tried tubes on it?  I floated today and probably lost 15 fish today after I hooked up with them.  I was swinging for the fences on the hook set and it seems like it wasn't staying loaded up on them enough and they would come off.  Dunno, could have been my hooks as just started using a new kind.  Seemed to work fine when I started using the tubes on my bait caster on a med-heavy rod.

What kind of hook, and how are you rigging the tube? Also, what line?

Or maybe slow reaction time as part of the rod action.  Not a good trait in a rod.

It's not the rod. I've caught tons of fish on these H20 rods.

I always feel like with a tube you have to fish them with an exposed jighead on a spinning rod, I won't Texas rig them unless I'm using a heavier action rod and stronger line. Feel like there's too much plastic to go through with a Texas rig and lighter line/spinning rod.

They are supposedly Mustads and they have a wire weed guard that hooks over the tip of the hook. I'm using 8lb P-line CX  Premium copoly on that reel.

I'm not a big fan of those weedless loop things, usually I just run the jig hook fully exposed, but if I want a weedgaurd I'll usually rig it up this way. https://tackle.redshad.com/PekTube1.php

I usually just save capri-sun straws from the kids drinks at home to rig them.

Sounds like a belly forming in the line from the current and not enough mustle in the rod.

If your snapping a lot of rods you got some handleing problem. About 2 years ago I switched about 6-7 rod to Berkly Cherrywood because I needed to start using light weigh rods. I use them 3 or four of them many and evenings throughout the season. They work just fine and cost about $30 each.

I would never rig a tube that way it will cause it to spin in the water. hac always rigged it Texas style with the hook tip barely inpaled. It keeps the whole tube straight.

I adjust the tube so it's straight.

I think my previous rods break because they were 2 piece because they usually break where they slide into each other.

It might be these new hooks.  I may try cutting the guard in half and bending it to be split like shown in that link jpb2187 posted up.  I really do need them to be as weedless as possible in the rivers.
