jim m Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 just ordered a substantial amount of skirt material. jigs are my confidence bait so decided to keep some components on hand. nothing fancy just some colors that I have confidence in. I keep several sizes of naked heads and just change skirts as needed Codywskeeter1521 and merc1997 Bo 2
bluebasser86 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Jigs are my favorite bait. I'd rather be on a good jig bite than topwater any day because I lose fewer fish and catch bigger average fish, plus the heavier gear is nice and hammering the hook home on a jig just gets me going. I make all my own from pouring to painting to wire tying the skirts. It's nice to be able to make a jig for the exact conditions I'm facing and the satisfaction of catching them on my own creation is always a bonus. I do my own bladed jigs too and a bluegill color was good for both weedless jigs and bladed jigs this summer. Then the last few weeks I've been fishing dirtier water and they've been loving a junebug jig with a sapphire blue trailer. Bassmod, MOsmallies, big c and 4 others 7
Champ188 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Love that bluegill-colored skirt. Awesome job of tying that up. bluebasser86 1
Hammer time Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Great looking jig! I also tie all my jigs and love the ability to choose the exact color I want. I use round rubber exclusively and feel they are more lively with more action. May just be in my head but I believe you fish your best with the baits you have the most confidence in. Quillback 1
Champ188 Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 Dang, Hammer. That little dude should really catch em.

Members BassBlind Posted November 9, 2016 Members Posted November 9, 2016 Question for you Jig Masters - when should I use a craw or worm trailer vs just throwing the jig itself??

I never use a jig without a trailer, critter craw in water under 65 degrees and twin tail trailer above 65 degrees. That's just my favorite setups. BassBlind, Quillback and Ham 3
m&m Posted November 9, 2016 Posted November 9, 2016 BB, I also use a beaver tail trailer at times. Mike BassBlind and big c 2
