Blll Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Well in my 3rd season on Beaver I finally caught that 30# striper I've been looking for. 42", just over 30# on the Boga. Only fish I caught in 3 hours of whitecap drifting but wow! Brooder in 45 fow on a flat line! Lots of bait marking. two other boats out spoon jigging. They seemed to get a few whites. WT 58-59 Thanks again to Scott for telling me how to striper fish. Gavin, Johnsfolly, Vinsott and 3 others 6
Johnsfolly Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Congratulations on a giant striper! Sounded like pretty bad conditions. Great job sticking it out and getting it done! Would love to see a photo if you got one.
Dan the fisherman Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Awesome Bill. Sometimes the nastier the weather the better the fishing. Congrats again..... I'm still to break into the 30 pound range.
PigSooner Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Nice Bill! probably saw you as I definetly saw a couple of boats right next to each other- thought they were jigging/spooning. I got a 34" 18lb'r today myself. Blll, Gavin, Daryk Campbell Sr and 2 others 5
J-Doc Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Cool deal. A 30-40+ is on my bucket list. Sadly, there are not that many big ones remaining. I read it takes like 30yrs to get them that big and bigger. Way too many guides keeping fish these days. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!

I'm told the ones over 20# don't taste that good. They can stock all they want but can't speed growth. We've got a minimum, why not a max? They seem to live a long time, let em'. Gavin 1
J-Doc Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Having big ones creates fear and nightmares for some folks. Either they have super efficient digestive systems or they don't eat much because I've yet to find one with more than one minnow or at the biggest, one gizard shad in their gullet and stomach contents. Opening stomach contents is not something I enjoy and the smell is pretty rank. I always check to see if there's anything in there that doesn't belong there. Shad & minnows only so far.
