It definitely was, Chris. It was a pleasure to meet you and Michelle. Felt like we were reuniting with old friends. Let's do it again. Michelle said she wanted to fish a husband/wife tournament. We'll have our own little derby when you get back in warmer weather. big c 1 Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915

Donna, in the future please remember that fishermen never have "little bags" ......as we are a sensitive group All bags are equal in size....some just use them to their capacity while others tend to under utilize them. In the end don't we all win? I think the proper term is sackizationlly challenged. C4F Understood, but we may have a problem. I'm pretty sure I can't pronounce sackizationally challenged. crazy4fishin 1 Donna Gilzow Bella Vista, Arkansas The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope. --John Buchan, 1915

I thought spelling it was pretty danged impressive! It must be almost winter - lots of comments and responses are beginning to exhibit signs of Cooling Brain Matter Syndrome. Happens every year about this time and only gets worse from here till sometime in March. However, the symptoms can be somewhat alleviated by placing one of those Hot Hands hand warmer dealies on top of your head before covering with a good wool knit hat. Not a cure, just a partial treatment of the symptoms! LD Fisher, Champ188 and Donna G 3 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." crazy4fishin Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Vernon - you are right it is winter and with it comes CBMS! A not often talked about but serious issue affecting dozens of fisher people nationwide and three small towns in Idaho - studies have shown that 7 out of every 5 fisher people have this debilitating condition - as you know symptoms range from the mild typing of random thoughts and comments on public fishing forums about mindless topics while slowly escalating to sitting in your recliner practicing pitching jigs into the dogs bowl while watching old fishing shows to the intervention level event of the person wearing the old one piece fishing overalls and sporting the trucker fishing cap.....in public.....wearing Crocs with socks while mumbling "it's a bigun" !! If you know of or are married to that person.....reach out - let them know that you artificially care about their plight....offer a kind hand....or a snack of some kind.... I think that we should have a benefit fishing tournament to raise enough off color plastic baits, Live Target clear lures that look like many small fish squished into one, A-rigs, fishing jersey's, buffs and that de-hooker thingy that Bill Dance promotes to change the lives of those affected! Can you imagine the smiles as the affected person receive's such things......that is how the healing begins!! Well I gotta go - the dog drank all the water out of her bowl now I have to fill it up again as I just tied on a NuTech!! C4F Champ188, Donna G and vernon 3 Crazy4fishinA Cornhusker

C4F I sincerely believe that possessing the capacity to "artificially care" is perhaps the single most important characteristic when attempting to deal with this awful affliction. Most of the research to date strongly indicates that "over caring" and even "genuine caring" can, in fact, worsen the symptoms and lead to extended recovery expectations and even permanent tissue damage and/or chronic behavior patterns. Avoid at all costs. Well played sir - a significant observation to say the least. crazy4fishin 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." merc1997 Bo Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 any day one get to fish is better than working. with all the fronts we are having and the sudden drop in water temp from the cold temps, bass are on the move and are the bait fish. you just have to go looking each time out and keep looking until you find them, or keep the trolling motor cranked up and chunk and wind. tedious process either way, but chunking and winding all day just doesn't appeal to me as it once did. still, i would say your day of fishing was not that bad. it is always fun to just watch the eagles this time of the year. bo
Champ188 Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 I'm never gonna complain about a day on the water with my fishin' buddy. There will be a reasonably shallow bite at some point soon, although it may be brief if this frigid weather continues. I think Bo is on the money about the sudden drop in water temp ... in my experience, bass don't like radical change, whether it be rising water, falling water, muddying water or cooling water. Short of an ice storm, we're going to put in a full day this Saturday. High is supposed to be 55 sometime in the morning, falling near or into the teens by dark. Winds are supposed to howl out of the south in the morning, then swing to the north in the afternoon. If that's not enough to get some good ones up in the skinny water and chomping, I don't know what it will take. And yes, Bill --- we ARE that mad at them. vernon, crazy4fishin and merc1997 Bo 3
merc1997 Bo Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 i would agree that saturday would be a day to try for a shallow bite. and yes, the plummet that the water temps took does not lend itself for a good consistent shallow bite. but, any day that anyone can go fishing has to classified as a good day regardless of the catch, and even better when spent with your best friend. bo Champ188 1
Champ188 Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 I will also say that we won't be without deep tools (spoon and dropshot) if we have to go that route. I'd just like to get in one good shallow trip before winter sets in. But I also realize you can't put them where you want them. They'll be where they want to be and that's where you have to be also if you want to catch them.
