PigSooner Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 I was out yesterday enjoying the great weather found a school outside PC in 40 fow, couldn't get em to take. Didn't have any live bait, all the shad I saw were 30 ft deep. Heading out tomorrow and Tuesday, hopefully we will do better.
Stump bumper Posted December 25, 2016 Posted December 25, 2016 I found fish and lots of shad from PC to Horseshoe, even found them tearing up shad at 35 to 50 feet but could not get them up to hit the brooders I was pulling. Tried a spoon and had a brief hook up that pulled loose. Really nice day, even took the coat off a few times.
Dan the fisherman Posted December 26, 2016 Author Posted December 26, 2016 I've been experiencing the same. I see them on the graph but they don't really seen interested
J-Doc Posted December 26, 2016 Posted December 26, 2016 Fishing pressure and massive amount of bait. Been seeing this for the last few years now. It's becoming increasingly harder each year. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Ozark Flyer Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Got out today. Hooked up three and boated this one. HUGE bait balls up river. Plenty of fish on the graph but hard to pull them off the bait balls with brooders. Got to go soak in a tub of hot water now.... Vinsott, Lance34, Quillback and 3 others 6
Johnsfolly Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 That's an awesome striper! Congrats! Definitely a bucket list fish for me.
Dan the fisherman Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 I hooked up also today. Got one about 18-19 pounds. And another one about 13lbs. Weather was prefect! Wind wasn't blowin to hard either. Water temp was 50. Just a pleasant day. I'll be back out tomorrow with my wife's second cousins. They're 16 and 19 yr boys. Hope I get them hooked up tomorrow Ozark Flyer, Lance34, Quillback and 4 others 7
Quillback Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Go get them Dan. Hopefully you will get those young-uns hooked up on a couple of stripers!
Dan the fisherman Posted December 29, 2016 Author Posted December 29, 2016 I hit it hard today from 1030 till dark. I zeroed and felt bad about it sense I had two young men with me. I was proud of them n e ways for hanging in there all day. They didn't see discouraged either, they said they'd love to do it again. Told them we go early Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday if needed to get them on fish. I was stubborn today and wouldn't leave the area I caught fish in yesterday. I did mark a bunch but they wouldnt eat. Looking back now, I should have move on after a couple of hrs and found feeding fish. What that thing I always say " keep covering water"? Well I should have done that after TWO HOURS of nothing. Oh well, Saturday I'll be back to my old tricks, covering water and looking for feeding fish. Good luck and be safe fellas.
