Sinks, minimal stretch and very low visibility.

You're all correct, low stretch, helps the baits to sink and it is stiffer so the they tangle less.

Thank you Mr. Eric - great article!

If I may add:

In spring, I like to throw the double fluke rig as far as I can and immediately reel 5-10' of line back to me as fast as I can once the rig hits the water. It looks awfully erratic on top, with both baits jumping around and over each other.

Then I just kill it.....

wait for a 2 or 3 count.....

(if the top water bite is decent, this is usually when your arm get broken :)  ).

If no bites, I'll reel back in and start over. My best success with this is 10' or less once water is in upper 50's / lower 60's and C-L-E-A-R....
