Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 7, 2017 Root Admin Posted January 7, 2017 Had a lot of pretty rainbows brought in. Most anglers said afternoon was much better fishing than the morning. Bait is allowed in this contest. The biggest rainbow, 2.22, was caught on a crawler. A lot of guys threw jigs all day. JestersHK, crazy4fishin and Alby Fish 3
JestersHK Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Bet it was chilly on the water. Looks like a good turn out.
Bill Babler Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 It was not Chilly, it was freezing. I had a guide trip for Phil yesterday. We started downtown to keep out of the way of the tournament boys and got on the water at 11 AM. I was the only boat at the downtown ramp. Had to let the boat sit on the trailer in the water for 15 minutes as it was frozen to the trailer. It was 14 degree at 11 in the morning. I had 4 really nice guys that were all dressed correctly and we had a decent day. Mostly fly fished and used the Berkley Power worm under an indicator. Had 21 rainbows to the boat, and probably missed the same amount, mostly in the Monkey Island area. Size was really good 13 plus inchers, with the best at 16 inches. Our line was still freezing thru the guides at 2 PM. When we ended at 3 PM it was 34 degree. I know my boat is frozen big time now, but its going to get to 60 mid week here and that ought to thaw things out. JestersHK Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Wow, those guys were troopers. I came down late afternoon today for a quick trip. After the sun went down the hands started hurting and it's allot warmer today. Tomorrow looks better, and I'm hoping to go hunt some sea monsters out there.

Were you in the center console?
