Members freefallin Posted March 9, 2017 Members Posted March 9, 2017 Well I drove over today to Orleans Trail today to fire up the Avalanche with visions on fat bellied basses. Well when I got there the dock had fallen on it. With the sensation of a big bad stomach punch I walked away. Going to camp and chill and tomorrow see if she is fishable. Dock owner said no insurance on my boat... BOTH POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON! Ronald Reagan
Walleyedmike Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 I don't understand, the roof collapsed on your boat? WM
Walcrabass Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Ok, I am like WM. Roof fell on your boat? Commercial dock and no insurance on anything but the dock itself? Did you have any insurance yourself? Since the boat is in water then it shouldn't be a problem with it being on someone's property for their insurance to have to pay. You really have my interest on this one. Please tell more. Wally
fishinwrench Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 When the tornado took my place out in '06 I had 5 customer boats here and 3 of my own. My insurance covered the 2 that were partially disassembled (the ones I was actively working on) but they did not cover the ones that were either completed and awaiting pickup, nor the one waiting to be worked on. Needless to say, my 3 personal boats were not covered even though one of them was sitting inside my shop. None of my boats, themselves, were insured. All 3 were a total loss so I scrapped them for parts.....What else can ya do? Lesson learned! I always see to it that something is removed from my boat now when it is sitting here. It is in a constant state of "working on it." ?? Lifes2Short 1
DADAKOTA Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Not surprising from OT. There docks are in poor shape. Check the online reviews of that place. State Park and Mutton Creek are really well maintained. Sorry about your boat, but I doubt you get anything out of OT.
Skeeter ZX190 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I put in at Orleans Trail today. Some serious damage to a lot of the docks. I should have taken pictures.
dprice Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Seems they would have informed you in some way about not responsible for your accidents Dprice priceheatingair.com
Members freefallin Posted March 10, 2017 Author Members Posted March 10, 2017 Well Spent the morning working on my once beautiful white Avalanche. It was hit very hard by upper dock structure. Lots of very deep scratches (almost penetrating the cowling) deep. Hydrofoil broken and extremely noisy Trim/tilt. Motor and rear casting area heavily scratched. Slight bulge below motor mount on lower transom. Was told in person and on the phone it is your boat and your responsibility and not OT. The boat did run and trim albeit something is in a jam from the screeching sounds. Only fished two spots and only to check out the boat and I did catch some fish just not the pot bellies that would have been honored to be pulled into a beautiful pristine Avalanche just like the one I used to own. Could not even close my eyes last night without seeing my trashed boat. BOTH POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS NEED TO BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON! Ronald Reagan
Walleyedmike Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Feel for you, man. That just sucks. I've always rented a storage unit from A&A Storage. He's pretty reasonable, but I'm also sure that any storm that might damage the building and my boat is my problem, not his. I just paid my boat insurance yesterday, I think the insurance company has my boat undervalued by five grand or so. Hopefully never have a total loss that I have to argue with them about. Hope this works out for you, dealing with insurance companies is such a pain. WM
