Members zachjones Posted March 25, 2017 Members Posted March 25, 2017 new member here, I am boatless this year, and not familiar with stockton. with the lake as low as it is, is there an area I could catch some whites or crappie from the bank? I am closest to the turnback creek area, but could drive to another part of the lake. for the next month or so I will be somewhat restricted as to what type of banks I could fish, because I'm recovering from a broken leg, but want to fish if I can.
bassfisher Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Crappie should be up on the bank spawning in about 2-3 weeks they're not there yet
bassfisher Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 They were catching some under Aldrich Bridge before the rain and got muddy
fishinwrench Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 They were catching some under Aldrich Bridge before the rain and got muddy Whites love high muddy water. As far as I'm concerned the best time to catch them is when you're less than knee deep and can't see your feet. Lifes2Short and dan hufferd 2
inshore Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 go across bridge at cc to the east. after you pass bridge look for road (dirt) will take you to lake. nice flat bank with gravel. good for whites, walleye and cats. bassfisher 1
Hammer time Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 You can bank fish at Aldrich or at CC. Both spots can be good. My neighbor is boat less and has been fishing both areas for years with good success on whites, crappie and an occasional walleye. Good luck!
bassfisher Posted March 26, 2017 Posted March 26, 2017 Not to knock you guys but the other fishing was not good at all
Members Gary Stanton Posted March 26, 2017 Members Posted March 26, 2017 There's normally quite a few bank fisherman by the High Point boat ramp off 245. Members MCrump Posted March 27, 2017 Members Posted March 27, 2017 With the lake low you can walk out onto a big rock flat by the northwest end of the 245 bridge. South side is a bluff face with deep water. North side is a shallower cove, might be good for spawning crappie (I can't speak to that personally because I've never tried it there). I've caught whites from the bank there in the fall on a day when the wind was blowing into that area. Should be a good area to catch a variety of fish. tho1mas and bassfisher 2
Members zachjones Posted March 30, 2017 Author Members Posted March 30, 2017 thanks for the help guys. I haven't been catching many whites, but I've been catching several good largemouth in kansas. Here's one of the better ones from yesterday. bassfisher, dan hufferd and straw hat 3
