OK so I have a 1999 50hp mercury oil injected 2 stroke....elpto model iv noticed oil leaking out of the exhaust and alot of leaking seals and gaskets.....runs and drives great just gotta do something before it gets worse not to mention  I don't wanna pollute our beautiful waterways mostly

Raw fuel/oil leaking out the exhaust is either a bad fuel pump diaphragm, or a stuck carburetor float valve.   Sounds like you are due a fuel system overhaul at the very least.   About 375.00 parts & labor on a 99 Merc 50

Well 900$ later got the boat back and it still needs to go back......cid boat repair isn't the most professional looking place but the guys are polite and do good work.....problem is now I gotta go back and get the throttle replaced after I got my boat back I could barely find a gear....it was like the throttle cables were made out of mashed potatoes..... He said the cables were "stretched" I never heard that before.... Any thoughts

BS.  I've heard that one 1000 times.  Cables don't stretch.  Cables break, and cables can get stuck from crud inside the sheathing, but I'd love to watch someone to try to "stretch" a stainless cable.  The ends would pull off first. 

Stretched cables is an old-school Marina line of BS (kinda like "Blinker Fluid").

I hate to sound all Holier than thou, but we make good enough money in this business that nobody should be bulls#!tting and/or ripping off their customers. There's no need for it.

Speaking of throttle cables, if you replace it make sure you have someone who knows what they are doing replace it. I help replace one in my brothers bigger boat and in was a pain

Never replace ONE control cable.  If one gets bad then replace them both.  It's actually easier to pull two new ones than it is to only pull one.

Marcus just remember. There s a lot in labor charges. Somebdy has to pay the bills incured in running the bussiness. Plud support themselves. parts charges are something else. they are all blwn out proportion that applies to anything,boats,cars and wbout anything else.

Yeah I sell auto warranty's for a living all I do is preach parts and labor for cars....wish my boat still had a warranty.....

I was thinking the same things hard to stretch steel I'll probably call him out on it next time I see him
