Fishing Shirts

I wear fishing shirts almost every day.  Went shopping for more today.  Academy has their store brand in huge selection of colors and sizes for about a third of what BPS wants for their store brand.  Just FYI.  Don't work for either place.

I just picked up a long sleeved fishing shirt at Sam's Club yesterday for around $15.00. I haven't used one before, hopefully it's comfortable and cool!

Are they the button down ones or the tech material long t-shirt type?

I have several of them from Academy, mostly long sleeve since I am supposed to avoid sun.  I buy the ones that are a lightweight material and dry quickly, vent flap on the back, I want to say they are Magellan brand but not sure.  Some vivid bright colors and some drab quiet ones.

Speaking of fishing clothes, let me throw this out to get others opinions. i grew up wade fishing on the meramec and i was told by the old timers there to move slowly and quietly and wear colors that would match the background. So i usually would wear some camo or something in light blue or grey. Once i started fishing from a canoe or boat i kept with that philosophy as i figured the fish would be able to see brighter colors.

But now it seems guys will wear the brightest things they can find especially the tournament fisherman.  Seems to me if you are trying to fish a bedded bass with a bright chartreuse shirt the bass would see that from a long way off.

But maybe i am wrong because they sure seem to catch them. What do you all think?

You are right MO, Magellan is Academy's house brand. They offer some great shirts for the price. I especially like the fact that the rear vent is actually open all the way across the back, so a fella has a chance at getting some air flow through there. I have tried BPS, a few Columbias, I refuse to pay extortionist prices for Under Armor. I have no regrets with Magellan.

Get a mask, submerge yourself in a pool or creek and have someone stand nearby with a bright shirt on, you won't be able to see much if anything.  What you wear fishing has more to do with comfort and liking what you are wearing that anything else.  Now having said that most of my regular fishing shirts are a drab color, why, simple my bright ones I wear to work and I have a tendency to get "Stuff" all over me when fishing.

I prefer pale pastels in blue, green, gray, or tan hues. I figure they might not be as visible, but for sure they don't heat up like a darker color.
