Ketchup Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Put in at Ruark at 7:00. Fished til just past 10. Heavy fog started the morning. Guys let me speak my mind here for a minute. While fishing a bank pretty close to the ramp, in VERY heavy fog, i heard 4 or 5 boats running by, on plane easily. One of them past about 10 yards from me, and i could barely make out that it was a boat. Ok now the rant part..." in a stern voice"... I understand these were most likely tournament guys. Those that read my posts know im as for tournament fishing as anyone on the planet. With that being said, I dont give a rats $&tt how much money you have on the line, how far up or down you are in the points, or how bad you need to win to pay your boat payment, but it pretty silly for you to throw safety to the wayside when its like that. Seriously, If you are reading this, and were running on plane today in the fog, not even able to see the front of your boat, let alone a guy like myself putting across the lake to another shoreline, while doing so safely, then your an idiot. I kept waiting for the boats that i heard running at speeds while not being able to see 10' in front of them, for the sound of a crash when they hit someone. I was hoping one of those boats would shut down close to me so i could speak my mind. I dont get riled up very easily, but boys, this morning i found myself gritting my teeth together while pulling closer to the shore, out of the danger path until the fog lifted. I noticed there was a highschool tournament going on. I hope that if you had 2 of those innocent kids in your boat this morning with heavy fog, that you were smarter than those i heard running by. If not then obviously your an idiot. Ok i think you get the point. Fishing was pretty slow until the fog lifted and i was able to change locations. I found a cove to pull in that was just really fishy looking. 2nd cast with a 1/2 ounce tandem Indiana blade spinner into the weeds, and the only keeper of the morning shook the rod. Caught several others in that cove on shakey head, 1/4 ounce single blade spinner, C-Rig worm. Threw Ned for 30 minutes with not a nibble. Water was 64 on the lake, and 66 in the cove when i left. Beautiful morning to be on the water. mikeak, bassfisher, Brad N Steph and 11 others 14 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
zarraspook Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Well said! X2 "Look up OPTIMIST in the dictionary - there is a picture of a fishing boat being launched"
176champion Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 I have seen this as well on another lake.. thanks for the report I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
Lvn2Fish Posted May 14, 2017 Posted May 14, 2017 Who is "throwing safety to the wayside " the guy running at 25 mph on pad in the middle of the channel , or the guy idling across the lake ? I would much rather be underway and able to steer and also have the response of my throttle than be a sitting duck...And being able to only see the bow of your boat is a little bit of an exaggeration.
Members Slowtroller Posted May 14, 2017 Members Posted May 14, 2017 I got buzzed several times fishing deep on the points in the main lake also.

Appears you must have been one of "those" huh? So at 25mph your telling me that you are safer than at 3mph in heavy fog? I will wait for that answer before responding to the other. TinBoats BassClub. Ketchup Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 I got buzzed several times fishing deep on the points in the main lake also. I first started out about 80 yards out, thinking that with the heavy fog, that there would not be anyone dumb enough to be running on plane. Well that lasted about 20 minutes before the first one ran by. Could have slung my C-Rig into his boat with ease. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
