I talked with a conservation agent about this today. He said the algae growth depletes oxygen and the white bass are normally first ones to go. He said the agent who retired told him it goes through a 3-6 year cycle of this happening.

Gotta call BS on that one.

For the most part the White bass should be in the upper reaches of the tributary arms still.  There is plenty of lake available to escape an algae bloom and White bass are more than willing to migrate whatever distance it takes to find suitable water conditions.

I always thought it was delayed spawn stress allowing a virus, that and an old white bass is 5 years.... sooner than later a year class will croak

Pomme does seem to have a regular kill, the big ones have been virus related.  Fish don't have a clue that the water is better a couple miles away.  We tend to see the dead ones down by the dam or in the south facing coves as the wind will.concentrate them there.  I have never been able to understand the virus kill though, why doesn't it go downstream and into Truman also, but it doesnt.  The population is doing well right now and should be growing fast.
