Members C Beach Posted June 15, 2017 Members Posted June 15, 2017 So I am expecting to receive my personal letter of thanks from the CEO of Loctite anytime for supporting the company. I have purchased probably a half dozen bottles of the darn stuff this year, and no matter how careful I am...store it upright...clean the tip after using...etc., it always manages to glue itself shut after a couple uses. Sometimes I can stuff the Ned wire down the hole and salvage one more use, but have never actually used up a bottle of the stuff. Has anyone? Open to any tips on how to get more out of off bottle of the stuff, or an alternate product that works? Can get down to $2.70 a pop if you buy 10 on amazon, but sucks knowing you still won't ever get to use most it. OK, early AM whine fest done...have a good day all, hope they bite for you...I'll think about you at work. tho1mas and snagged in outlet 3 2
dpenrod Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Fly-tying? I use Wapsi's Z-ment. Brush applicator. Was a Zap A Gap guy but get much better control with the Z-ment.
Quillback Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 If the Ned wire down the throat trick doesn't work, I'll nip the top off of the spout with scissors. dtrs5kprs and terryj1024 2

Dutch Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 I carry it in the boat all the time. I normally get 2-3 months use out of it. Rarely does it get plugged up. Maybe you leave too much residue on the tip. dtrs5kprs 1

dtrs5kprs Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Weather has a lot to do with it. When it's hot it wants to run. Try not to get it on the sides of the nozzle. As mentioned earlier, keep excess gunk off the tip. If it startsto build up, crack it off with pliers. Half dozen is nothing. We go through a couple dozen a year. I buy it at a grocery store back home, often on sale, and we get fuel points. This trip I've been using it to hold that Zman Palmetto Bugz on the flip hooks, keeping the bullet weight attached to the head, and gluing them back together. That burned up a bunch of tubes. Folks started using the black bottle, think that is the extra control, because it sets up faster. It also gunks up worse than the silver bottle. If you're pre-rigging, go with the silver. If you need something quick in the boat, go with the black. I have been known to put them in the cooler if they get runny and drippy. Quillback 1

Even doing Neds at home it seems I would get some of that G-glue on my fingers. It also dries to a white color, don't know if it bugs the fish, but I don't like it. I am back to the gel, even with the nozzle issues. I'll glue up 20 Neds at a time, if you get the Mustad hooks on Dave's heads they won't rust out, make up a bunch at one time, at home, use gel, and all is good.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted June 15, 2017 Posted June 15, 2017 Do you put them back into the bag, Quill?
