Lvn2Fish Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Have fished the James River arm the past two sundays. Water temp had been around 84-86 degrees. 7/9 was a day you dream about. My father and I caught close to 80 fish with 20 keepers. All on the jig in 15-25. We found three schools of fish and really leaned on them that day. Probably caught 12 in 12 casts on one school . It seemed if you could fire them up you could catch them in a hurry. 7/16 was a lot more challenging . Our best fish at 3.72 came on a shakey head . Still plenty of jig fish, but the bite was far less aggressive. The water cleared up a note from last weekend. Also looks like it fell a half a foot or so. Never did find the mega school today. On a side note, who ever hit my trailer at cape fair I hope you are repayed over and over. I have had a new to me 08 champion in immaculate condition until today. Ripped my rubber off top of fender and a one inch gouge the length of the wheel well. They obviously knew they hit it. Quillback and magicwormman 2
JF660R Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 80 fish, omg. I'd be having a good day at 8. Sucks about the trailer but people are mostly idiots on the loose. I suppose I'd rather take it on the trailer than on the truck or the boat. Daryk Campbell Sr 1 https://www.facebook.com/pages/Nocturnal-FabWorx/346443168872812 Like Nocturnal FabWorx on Facebook

Bad deal on your trailer the parking at Cape Fair area sucks. On these warm days the parking becomes slim and none. The corp due to their infinite wisdom have not provided enough parking at either ramp. When the water level becomes normal and the single lane ramp shows up there is big rocks placed on either side of the ramp to where you had better not drop off either side of the concrete ramp. You may damage your trailer. They placed the big rocks along the waters edge where we used to be able to back trailers out on the gravel and several trailers could be parked there. Not any more due to the big rocks they placed there, you'll damage the back of your trailer hitting the big rocks. The way it is now and the way people park the access to the ramp gets very cramped trying to back down the ramp. If there is a couple of small tournaments going out of Cape Fair then the parking really sucks. I bet that several trailers get damaged there due to the bad parking situation. I filled out a form voicing my opinion about the parking situation at Cape Fair. Got the form at the corp shack and the person told me to put my name and phone number on the form then they will see your form. I told them that they need to do away with the camp sites in front of the first ramp and make parking space for boat trailers. Sorry for the long winded reply but if the parking was improved maybe your trailer might not of got damaged.. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
magicwormman Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 Thanks for the report! Amazing that you could catch that many on a Sunday! What hours did you fish? It's a shame about your trailer! People are just so careless these days and than don't have the decency to offer to pay to have it fixed. It's not any different than hitting a car in a parking lot. Man up and leave a note!!! dtrs5kprs and Daryk Campbell Sr 2

Man up and leave a note!!! The day we caught them really a good we fished from about 6:00am -2:00pm . The best advise I can give was if you caught one that day you better throw a waypoint on gps and memorize your cast . Honestly 50 of those fish came on three different casts. If you could get the bait in the "zone" they would crush it . Not like a peck peck jig bite . This was one solid thump resulting in them choking it . They were def. competing for the bait that day . Probably 1/2 spots 1/2 largemouth . Best five went 14 lbs all largemouth magicwormman 1

Lots of fun when you can find them bunched up like that. dtrs5kprs and magicwormman 2
