Members smithsfans68 Posted September 11, 2017 Members Posted September 11, 2017 Hey ya'll (did I type that right?) I just moved in from Utah where trout fishing is plentiful and have been fly-fishing for 10 years plus. Without giving up your honey-holes (because I hated when people ask me for mine back in Utah) where are some great streams/rivers within a 2 hour-ish driving distance from Springfield where i can go and catch some nice browns and rainbows. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks!

Greasy B Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Beware, the Ozark tailwaters are big scary SOB's that go up and down without warning. Once you learn them you'll have a great time. Another option would be to embrace the native Smallmouth, by doing so you will find inner peace and serenity. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974

BilletHead Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Welcome smithsfans68, The Mrs. and I did a two week trip the first of August in Utah. We liked what we seen in the state you just left. We did our cut slam while out there in three days and then fished all over there for more fish. Impressed with what your game and fish department has done. Some real good trout water here and south into Arkansas. Be ready for pretty crowded conditions at times fishing cold water trout. We mainly do warm water fly fishing and you can get away from folks that way. Enjoy and again welcome, Mr. and Mrs. BilletHead smithsfans68 1 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" Members smithsfans68 Posted September 11, 2017 Author Members Posted September 11, 2017 @BilletHead thank you so much. Just trying to learn some good places. Where did you go out there? If you caught cuts, more than likely you were at Strawberry. Did you make it out to the Green by chance? I lived about 20 minutes from the Provo.
