Met up with a friend of mine to fish Lake 33 last Friday afternoon. I got there around 1, and we fished out of a boat for 3-3.5 hours, then I fished by myself from the bank another 1.5-2 hours. Didn't catch anything big, but it was an unusually productive day for both of us, as far as bass went. When I say productive, I mean by my standards, in that we each got numbers up to the high single digits, which is not that common for either one of us up there. I would say biggest were only in the 12-13" range, but nonetheless it was surprising how specific the catching was. We almost caught no other type of fish.

I've seen quite a few trip reports from Table Rock and LOZ where they didn't do as well as you did on your trip for the 5 or so hours that you fished. Never apologize for having a good day fishing, be it based upon numbers of fish or just pure enjoyment on lippin' a few.

I haven't fished 33 in a long time...our CAG group had a social one year there and almost had heat stroke was 101 that day...wish we could fish there late at night

Yeah, I mainly just tend to say it as a disclaimer so people can adjust the report to their skill level. Those kinds of numbers are good days as far as my experiences and skill at fishing are concerned. A hardcore bass angler, might get the impression that it was actually a slow day, but if I caught 8 or 9 fish, they might be able to catch 2-3 times that many, and big ones at that.

Yeah, it would be nice to get the chance to fish when some of the bigger catfish are probably more active. I wish they'd at least have certain designated nights at places like Busch and local county parks, when you could do that. Seems like more and more, they're turning it into a daytime only activity. Think even Flamm Access in Arnold now is not open all night anymore.
