I heard the the Bait Regulation passed. After October of next year, only bait caught from Beaver can be used on Beaver or purchased from a recognized, certified bait farm. I don't know where any of those farms are. I'm assuming that brooders & minnows from HLS will be good. Interesting.

Didn't know anything about this.

Lake is slam full of bait.  Catching some of it may be harder now. Especially with the mass increase in live bait fishing.  The old days of striper guides having it all to themselves is long gone.

they are just twitchy about silvers getting in the lake.....imagine 60 foot yacht crusing the lake and getting wapped in the head with a silver carp..knock the wine glass right outa their hand! but baby silver carp look real close to a shad

We have never been able to buy shad and bait shops have always said it was illegal to sell live shad around Beaver. Where has this been happening?

From what I understand, the issue is the netting of wild shad from other waters may include silver carp which are almost impossible to eradicate once established. Buying shad has not been the issue. I don't know what the source of shad will be in the future. I've been told that Lake Norfork  has had this regulation in effect already.

Striper guides are unhappy with the new regulation, they've gone to the legislature to see if they can get the leg to overturn AGFC's decision.  I'm with AGFC on this one, we don't want to have those Asian carp get established in Beaver.

On the bright side, fishing success would pick up and anyone could catch fish.  All they would have to do is slow down and run an outboard.  The fish just jump in the boat.

Bill is correct that Norfork Lake has had this regulation since 2009. At that time, the Norfork Lake Striper guides and anglers were the ones pushing for this regulation for Norfork Lake.

That regulation will be very difficult to enforce.

I have not been checked on Beaver in years to even see if I was caring a fishing license or fire extinguisher, I can remember once in 2005 someone checked my livewell.

The only way this will get enforced is if one guide rats on another one and gathers all the evidence himself.
