Anything new going on up there?

Haven't heard any kinds of reports in a while from up there. Has anyone on here been doing any fishing up there recently?

So you're telling me it's some good fishing (by my standards). Hope I can go up there for a day or two soon then. I'd take constant action with smaller fish, over sporadic action with smaller fish.

It's very, very low on my list of Lakes to fish and I spent plenty of time fishing it over the years.

Yep, I did too.  Something bad happened to that lake in the late '80's and although you'll occasionally hear a good report from there the bottom line is that whatever happened is either still happening, or the lake never recovered from it.

I was talking to a guy Wednesday who puts on Bass tournaments at Mark Twain. He said there are plenty of bass being caught and plenty of good ones. He said it normally takes between 15 and 20 lbs to win a tournament there.

So I did some checking. Based on these results I would say there are some guys who know they are there and know how to catch them.

That is inspiring.   I gave up on it years ago and figured since I never hear a good report that it hadn't gotten any better.

Those guys know the lake like the back of their hand and are basically pro's...they have cashed a monkey dodo ton of checks.  For the average angler, your much better elsewhere.  How about you post the first through fifth weights, I'm guessing they drop considerably, unlike other lakes.

Monkey Dodo ton??? Guess that means a lot?

You could say the same thing at pretty much any lake in the country. There are always locals who get really good at fishing a particular lake and then win a bunch of money in tournaments.

Lake of the Ozarks is a perfect example. You see the same guys in the top 5-10 over and over.

Yes, but you also see lOTS of average guys go to LOZ and have no problem catching a limit...not so much at MTL.  Why don't you post some history of the total limits weighed?  If your just fishing for a check great, pretty sure the OP was looking to fish for fun, my point was he would have better chances at success elsewhere, and that's not even debatable.
