Music Creek BSL

I thought I had posted here on the forum before but I cant find any of those posts so Im doing an intro. 

Im in the process of selling the MO farm, moving to Bull Shoals and doing a LOT more fishing. I love smallmouth but I have a lot more experience in creeks and streams than lakes. Im planning to stick close the middle of the lake, learn the lay of the land and try to get better at catching big bluegills, crappie, walleye and of course smallmouth. Eventually I would also like to get into scuba diving and maybe spear fishing some catfish. I mean when you combine scuba, fishing and hunting all into one sport that's gotta be fun, right? 

If you see a gray Tuffy fishing boat or a fat guy on a kayak around Music Creek there is a pretty good chance that's me.

If anyone in the area ever has an open seat, I'll spring for bait, gas, lunch or whatever.

Hope you stay inn touch and share your experiences on the mid lake...  I'd like to know more about spear fishing.

If I had to guess I will be doing more asking and listening for a good while but I will share fishing reports. It will probably be a good couple years before I am able to get into the spear fishing but you bet I will share those experiences, Im sure it will be amusing. 

I may even wander up your way or down to the white river to catch some trout as that would be yet another new experience for me. 

It is really kind of crazy to even consider all the different fishing opportunity within an hours drive. World class small mouth in Crooked Creek, Trout in the White and TaneyCoMo, Stripper in Norfork, Bass and Walleye in BSL.

When I lived near the ocean, did a lot of spearfishing and mostly while free diving (without a SCUBA tank). Imagine slowly swimming or drifting along the surface looking over the structure, then diving down and hunting in a 3D setting. You are fixed upon your quarry and concerned that you may not be able to get close enough for a shot before your lungs start to ache for a breath of fresh air. In some areas like those that I fished in North Carolina or Florida, you never know what you may get close to while spearfishing. Could be snapper, blackfish, triggerfish, spadefish, sheepshead, cobia, etc. All are exciting and most are good meals once you get them in your catch bag. I never spearfished in blue water and would love to give that a try as well. 

If you get into the sport, keep us posted on your trophies.

That may be a good way to get started. Im not sure that I'd have much luck at any big catfish but pretty much everything (other than Bass) is legal down here. Im not too proud to shoot a big bluegill or crappie!

Holler at us if you need anything AGFC fisheries related concerning the area and the lake. We would be glad to help whether it is about fishing or scuba diving. I have a lot of family members that live or lived in that area of the lake. My grandpa guided out of Hwy 125 (Peel) Boat Dock for many years.

Welcome!  Your post title "Music Creek" caught my eye...  my absolute favorite section of any lake I've ever had the pleasure of boating and fishing.

A couple of years ago I traded my bass boat for a house boat I keep at Buck Creek, so I haven't been to the Music area in a while.  Hollar at me if you're in the neighborhood,

I was lucky to find a dock with adjoining property on that part of the lake. I am even luckier to have some of the best neighbors ever. Now if I can get my life moved down there life will be great. 

Once I get down there maybe you can come show me around the area and do some fishing.

Welcome to OAF! I never really got into Scuba; though it is definitely worth a try and is super cool if you enjoy the sport. There's some local places where you can learn Scuba on TRL, so it is worth a go. Some places have a "discovery scuba" trip that I've done in the past, they give an introductory experience and explain some of the basic instructions. Worth a go for sure!
