Margin areas are destroyed by wake action and boats can in some places suspend silts

I have no doubt jetboats cause bank erosion on Ozark streams.  I see it every time I go floating/fishing.  Every time.  Jet goes by, waves lash the bank and you can see the cloudy and sometimes muddy water along the bank.  Look close and you can see the linear erosion lines.   Been down this road before, and I know lots of forum users are avid jet boaters, but jets or anything beyond the 5 hp putt putts down on the Buffalo have no place on most stretches of most Ozark streams.  The ONLY reason is personal convenience and whim.  Its like having ATVs in Yellowstone....then again, lots of folks would probably go for that.   Sure, the hordes of party floaters don't help matters either, but that doesn't justify jets at Akers Ferry, Scotts Ford, etc.

I'll wait and see if anybody else wants to discuss the jetboat wake issue again  :)

I am sure the usual suspects will wade in...they are just busy highjacking the American Carp Society thread.......

One thing that amazes me though, being on Lake of the Ozarks on most any decent weather weekend is like heading out on the ocean. Even last weekend when it 25 at sunrise and a high in the 40s on Saturday i still saw the huge cruisers running around throwing massive wakes.

But LOZ, based on the winning tournaments weights and numbers of fish caught,  seems to have better fishing and bigger bass then 20 years ago

do you think pleasure boats have caused less fishing pressure than in the past? or that shore erosion has enhanced the growing potential of the fish by bringing more nutrients into the water?.....

Can't see how anyone could not believe wakes help erosion, any wave action against an unprotected bank is erosion. But who cares, eh? Wind, rain, floods, asteroids could all cause that kind erosion in time.
