Found Holzer this afternoon.  Happened to meet Harris122 while there.  I really hope you are able to catch whatever was playing with your line.

That's awesome! I went there early morning, must of missed you all. Didn't catch anything but had a line tug and then one flop right in front of me, could of been the same fish just teasing me then rubbing it in!:P

Sadly it outsmarted me. Not the first or last time. I distinctly remember one time this summer there, I had thrown out a rod with a circle hook and shrimp, and let it sit while I was messing with my new-to-me casting net. I'd walk off 30-40 feet or so to see if I could teach myself how to effectively throw the net, and without fail for an hour or so, a fish would take off with the shrimp I had on the rod there, and drop it again in the time it took me to run back. I'd wait, nothing. Check the bait, still there. Throw it back out, hold on, wait, nothing. Drop it back in the rod holder and wait, nothing. Finally I go back to throwing around the casting net, at which point it would take it and run with it, only to drop it as I got back to the rod. And that went on for a good hour and a half or so.

Is that a meanie or just a brownish colored spot?

Any luck?

The video was actually from the same day I caught the little spot above, just got around the posting it.

Fished a few spots from the banks yesterday. Had several strikes and it felt like a few were on for a bit but was unable to pull any out. Thinking they were too small for the craw I was using, tried a few smaller baits and there was no interest, went back to the craw and it was a repeat session of strikes.

Did meet an older gent who was fishing upstream from where I was. From what I understand he wasn't having any luck but there was a bit of a language barrier, neither one of us could fully understand one another.

Few captures from yesterday, the Meramec is frozen over. Wish I had a drone to fly over it and see if you can view any flow under the ice.
