Recently a member of another forum from out of town inquired about the Musky and Gar fishing On Pomme De Terre and I directed him to the Ozark Angler Site knowing this group is often helpful to visitors. I have never fished this lake and don't fish lakes much anymore. Is the Musky worth chasing here?

Bill - Pomme is one of the better musky lakes in Missouri. There are several musky guides that fish that lake if he wants to go with a guide. Or he can cast to the many docks that surround the lake. If the dock is close to deep water there may be musky around. I haven't caught in Pomme, but the last trip we had an encounter with a 42+" musky off of one of the dock areas. We were fishing bucktails and big glide baits.

Musky & Pike like slack water & structure.Wood, weeds. Big dumb fish mostly. Just gotta find them, will usually eat a big buck tail 1/2 a chicken streamer but little 3-4" snacks work too. Just gotta find them, they want to eat. Some 30lb + flouro or wire bite tippet helps. Gar are easier. You can sight fish to them usually. Would head north if you want Pike or Musky. They are stocked here, but better bets up north.

Gavin's got it right for gar.  If you don't see them it's really a waste of time to target them.
Heat of the summer is best in my experience.  But anytime they are cruising the surface is dinner time.
