liphunter Posted March 21, 2018 Posted March 21, 2018 I have an older an Older Hummingbird 597 HD at the bowl and have recently mounted a Garmin ECHO MAP plus chirp 73sv at the console. Can't really compare the two. But I really love the Garmin. But the hummingbird served me well. The Garmin has so many cool features, as I am sure the others do as well. It is so crisp clear even I can understand a lot of it. Would love the Panoptix, but it was a little out of my wife's blessing range. lol Maybe someday. Mine is compatible, just need the transducer. There is a post on here that has really helped me better understand my electronics, but there much more to learn. Now if I could only catch fish. Basfis and terryj1024 2 Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... Or you could just flip a coin???
Ketchup Posted March 22, 2018 Posted March 22, 2018 I too had the Garmin 73sv that smalls21 installed on my boat. Man that Garmin was clear. Sold the boat. I was at BP last weekend looking at units, and liking the Garmin i had, my next will be the 93sv. If i had aarchdales money, i would go all out on dual Panoptic's at the console and bow. His money is greener than mine tho. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

Members Mitchell Weiss Posted March 22, 2018 Members Posted March 22, 2018 I have a Garmin Echomap 53CV unit. I absolutely love it. The unit is easy to use and the sonar is clear as a bell. The Homeport software makes it easy to do pre-fishing for likely spots on any lakes without being there. It is an awesome feature. Just plug in the file for the maps (download from Garmin website) and do your review of the lake and select some spots and set some waypoints. When you actually get on the lake it will help you get there if you need to have it Show you the way. Very good clarity on all the structure.
176champion Posted March 25, 2018 Author Posted March 25, 2018 What about the preloaded maps on the Garmin, do they cover our area? Yea the panoptic transducer is out of my price range as well, found them for around 700 bucks. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
176champion Posted March 25, 2018 Author Posted March 25, 2018 Well i don't want the 94SV as it has the coastal charts but the 93SV has the lake charts. I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything! Bruce Philips
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted March 25, 2018 Posted March 25, 2018 http://lakes.garmin.com/, looks like it covers them. Looks like bass pro has the 93sv for $599 right now. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/Garmin-EchoMAP-93SV-CHIRP-Fishfinder-and-Chartplotter-with-LakeVu-HD-Maps I may have to get one
