I don't always use them, but I've become a fan of these.  I believe with the soft "leader" it doesn't interfere with the primary hook, and the circle type hook doesn't seem to be snag prone.

I do wish they made it in a 3/0 or 4/0 though.  the 2/0 is perfect for a 1/4 oz. spinnerbait.  Short spots are almost always on the trailer when I have one of these on.

So do you slide the red collar up to keep it on the spinnerbait hook?

No, you wrap the leader section around the spinnerbait hook and pass the trailer hook through the loop that is created, kind of like a "handshake loop".  Once you cinch it tight, it doesn't move.

I despise trailer hooks on Spinnerbaits and buzzbaits.   I have had a few occasions where I missed a big bite that I would have undoubtedly hooked if I would have had a trailer hook on, but I'm not gonna fuss with the stupid things just because of that.    Odds are if the fish didn't get stuck then it will take a swipe at something else, and that time maybe I will get it stuck.

I like a plastic trailer on Spinnerbaits/buzzbaits, and a trailer hook interferes with that terribly.

This. If the spinnerbait comes out of the package with the trailer hook I will leave it on. But otherwise I don't add one as I think them getting snagged more often outweighs the potential hookup percentage increase.

For most of my life I would put an uncle josh’s pork frog on my spinnerbaits. I like the extra bulk and action you get using it and I always felt like it helped draw more strikes. That being said, I have recently started using a trailer hook instead and I do feel like my hookup percentage has gotten better. When one takes a swipe at it, it usually gets stuck.

I fished with a buddy that was using these yesterday.  He doesn't really use a plastic trailer and I didn't think that he got hung up as much as someone would with a straight shank trailer hook.  That being said, the Molix in Neon Charmer was doing work yesterday and smoking whatever he was throwing anyway.
