Ham Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 $2.89 Be careful what you wish for. I'm not sure that gas prices will be any better with a demonrat in the White House. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Terry Beeson Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Well, Chrysler is working on a hybrid hemi... Exxon announces record profits each quarter... Gas prices have been sneaking up for a few years... We "get use to it"... and nothing really gets done... Except the mid-east get to drive more gold cars... not gold painted... not gold plated... gold.... I'm doing my part. I just took the Ranger back to my mom and picked up my Dodge 4X4... sheesh... jdmidwest Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Ham Democrats in the White house??? They have Billary and Osama and the guys that have failed in the past, Carry, Edwards and Al. We could run the limp D___ Dole this time and win it. Rudy all the way. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Ham Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 jd We've got the best country in the world, but seemingly no one fit to run it. I fear the fix is in. I don't think it matters who the dem is that they run in the big race, I get a feeling that the nation wants to let the dems have a turn at the wheel. THAT IS NOT AT ALL WHAT I WANT. Senators in general should not run for president. They spend years learning how to tax, spend, and talk. They often do not have a lot of real world management skills. Obama is unproven at every level. I don't hear him saying anything new. Hilliary is what she is. I wouldn't give her the keys to my car let alone the keys to the white house. Biden is a self agrandizing A-hole that would drive me from the room every time he spoke. As for John Edwards, do you want to let a guy run the nation that can't figure out how to get a 20 dollar haircut. If he spends 20 times too much on his hair with "his money", how do you think he'll behave when it is our money? I'm sorry his wife is ill. Why in the world would they waste some of the remaining time she has on him running for President? The higher gas prices are also culling some fishing trips for me. I often have a few hours, but don[t want to burn the gas to get there for just a couple of hours. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Thom Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 Unfortunately If you would review all of the candidates from the other side as of the aisle (as fairly as you did the dems) you could make a pretty good case why not to vote for most of them. Notice I said most. The conservative base is unhappy with the way they were treated after their support and the only one with a pretty clean past has the war hanging over his head fairly or not. Most of the candidites have real bad skeletons in their closets that are going to be hard to hide. Most have done a "I was for abortion before but I now see the light" and am opposed to it. Once we get past all of the talking points of both sides and see how they voted and were previously elected there is a skeleton left. Both sides are in the pocket of lobbist of the petro lobby and need their money to run a campaign. It will be another election of who do we vote against not for. Thom Harvengt
Terry Beeson Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Well, this is turning into a Blue vs. Red debate about oil prices... One last comment and I'm done... Kick 'em all out and bring Ross Perot back. He wasn't so stupid afterall, huh? brittsnbirds Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 We need a Champion. If just one oil company would step up and drop prices by 10 cents and continue to undercut the others they would make more money than they know what to do with. As evidenced in this post people are looking for the cheapest gas prices. The biggest problem is they have us by the lower unit. We are our own demise, more and more people are using SUV's as mini-vans. Twice the gas use. I remember back in the day of the mini-van one of their strong points was fairly decent mileage. I know one thing it is definately going to cut into my trips down south this year. My gas consumption doesn't change that much pulling my pop up with my truck as long as I keep my foot out of it. I guess that is one thing I have control over is my foot!!
SilverMallard Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 When y'all read my posts you need to bear in mind that I am the guy who is always saying there isn't but a hair's width difference between the two parties on fiscal policy. They both love tax-n-spend, pork, and are DEEP in the pockets of Wall Street and the oil companies. But there is a difference I mentioned above that triggered some discussion about D v. R. The oilco's KNOW they have a VETO right now. They won't KNOW that with almost anyone else who gets elected...from either party. When GW was considering running for President, his FIRST phone call for advice went to King Faud of Saudi Arabia. Drilling in ANWR, ordering the EPA not to enforce the Clean Air Act, making backdoor attempts to gut the ESA and CRP, hocking the scam that is ethanol, etc. GW is sold out to the oil industry through and through. Oh, one other thing to keep in mind: I am a Republican and worked for the GW Bush campaign in 2000 and voted for him twice. snagged in outlet 3 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Doesn't matter who is in the Whitehouse, gas prices will rise one way or another. Not a single new refinery has been built in the U.S. for the last 20 plus years. Existing refineries are running at 105% of capacity. Doesn't matter how much oil you have if you can't refine it. Notice the price of oil didn't go up but gas did. Summer blend is more refined and takes retooling to accomplish. Therefore less gas, higher price. Just under 10% of the price of a gallon of gas is profit to big oil. 20% of each gallon goes to federal tax. A few more percent to state and local tax. Wait till $4 a gallon gas gets here. Snagged.
