I've only heard that the Cape Fair boys are a bunch of old cranky dudes that are not big fans of younger guys that can only fish it once in a while. And when I say younger I mean anyone under the age of 50... I am sure those old cranky dudes would love to take your money once in a while !!! Royal Blue 1

One of the cranky old dudes you are referring to just happens to be one of my friends dad and i know for a fact he is not a cranky old dude, he my be old but not cranky. Also you say anyone over 50 is cranky so i guess that makes me a cranky old man at 64...Good luck in your search you cranky young dude. Champ188 Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Trying to remember how old Dave Barker was when he won his last Central Pro-Am, Heartland or other regional championships. I do know that he was well into his 70s when he won three boats in a single year. If you don’t know the name Dave Barker, you don’t know much at all about bass fishing in the Midwest. Oh yeah, he was mistakenly considered by some to be a cranky old goat. dtrs5kprs, big c, darrencombs and 2 others 5

I knew this would ruffle some feather on here which is part of the fun. At age 51 myself I am an old dude to many as well. I didn't say they were all cranky. They have taken my money many many many times off and on over the years. I've been lucky enough to take theirs a few time's as well. But if you have ever fished it more than once you know there is a group of regulars who fit the description. I know of a few different times where there was controversy and it wasn't handled well. (Not by the tournament director, but by the regulars after it was all said and done). But hey no one said I have to fish it which is why I asked the question, are there any other daytime options?
mixermarkb Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Champ, did Mr. Barker pass away? I never met him, but he was a college and fishing friend of my late uncle, and one heck of a bass fisherman.

dtrs5kprs Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 We were just in the Thunder tackle shop in Kimberling. They have a pretty comprehensive board of derbies and dates on the wall.

That’s borderline disrespectful of a guy who helped pioneer tournament fishing in the Midwest. This forum isn’t BBC and we don’t aspire to be anything like it. I was only speaking in past tense because like many of us, he put aside tournament fishing when Central Pro-Am became the newfangled deal that it is now. dtrs5kprs and mixermarkb 2
