Seth Posted August 29, 2018 Author Posted August 29, 2018 I've always used the 6.6 footer and love it. My other rod that I fish with is a 6' Falcon original ultralight. Both rods see a lot of use, but I tend to gravitate to the Air Stream the most, especially if I am throwing 1/8oz jigs. I've not tried a 6 foot Air Stream yet. The Falcon gets the nod for park fishing though.

Told myself when/if they came back in stock I would buy them so that is what I did. For you guys that have the 7' rod how does it compare to the 6'6" rod? I originally bought a 6' and liked it a lot. Then I got the 6'6" and it just seems entirely to whippy to me. Never could find a 7' to hold. I’ve never fished with the 6’ not the 6’6” so I got nothing. I know a couple of the guys have bought them and do well with them Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
top_dollar Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Hopefully the air stream sticks around. I have a 7ft and a 6ft 6. The 6ft 6 is too much like an ultra light rod and i dont have much use for it. That 7ft rod though has some solid backbone. That rod is a real workhorse for me. I love it for crappie. I can toss a 1/64th oz jig on it, but i can still move a decent fish with it if need be. I also use a st croix panfish series rod, the 7ft light fast. It is lighter, more comfortable, and more responsive than the air stream, but the air stream has more backbone from the handle out to the middle of the rod. It feels like it would lift more weight than the st croix before breaking, but hopefully i never actually test that. Johnsfolly and Seth 2

I know what you are saying on the 6-6 rod. I know nothing about rod taper/blanks but it feels like the backbone and sturdy section on my 6-6 is shorter or equal to the 6 footer but with 6" extra flimsy tip on the end which adds lots of whip. Kind of like its unbalanced to some degree.
Seth Posted September 9, 2018 Author Posted September 9, 2018 Well I ran by Bass Pro in columbia today and was set on buying a St Ctoix Premier. That was until I realized the Air Streams were on sale for 45.99. I had $75 in gift cards so I picked up a 6’ and 6.5’ Air Stream for $22 out of pocket. I couldn’t pass that up.
Ham Posted September 9, 2018 Posted September 9, 2018 I have 2 of the 7 foot rods in the plastic wrap, but you guys are making me itchy to buy a couple more. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
