Walcrabass Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Just a word about fishing with "hot" water temps. Use Red. Red worms, Red Crankbaits, Red Spinnerbaits, Red Jigs..................Red Trailers............ I don't know what the high water temps do to their eyesight but being as they are cold blooded it definitely makes a change in things...... I have fished when the surface temps were 88/ 90 and still managed to catch fish.............. on Red .................. Take it from an Old Guy. Walcrabass wtr dogs, liphunter and terryj1024 3

Walcrabass Another "old guy" I knew swore by a tomato-red Gene Larew worm during the dog days of Summer. He bought them in bags of 100. I throw red crankbaits in late Winter/early spring, but then I put them away for the year. That might be a mistake. Bass Yakker 1

Walcrabass Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 To all, Now I will tell you how I found out about using RED when the water was hot.............. I was fishing Stockton a long time back. Surface temp was almost 90. A friend of mine and I were fishing in his awesome "catch fish all the time" Bass boat. We were not catching ANYTHING !!!!!!!! A "grandpa" pulled in behind us in a big Jon Boat and had about 4 of his grandkids in the boat. They started fishing in water we had just fished. As I watched them I told my buddy they were catching the crap out of the bass. We watched them catch one after another. Remember....... these were little kids.......... When we were leaving we went by their boat and I said something looks like you guys are doing well............. the Grandpa replied yes we caught a bunch. I asked what they were using. These things right here was the reply. They were red lizards. I asked if he used them quite a bit. His reply was " No I just picked them up at a bait shop when we were bringing the kids fishing". So............... not being entirely stupid................... I started using Red Stuff when the water was hot.......... sure glad I ran into those people that day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Walcrabass Just one other thing............... I wasn't kidding a bit about the Red Bass Jigs and Spinnerbaits............... Killers ................. Bass Yakker 1
fishinwrench Posted September 27, 2018 Posted September 27, 2018 I must say ..... The timing on this tip couldn't be worse. 🤔 Can we please get a reminder sometime around July 4 2019 ? Thanks. 😊 Daryk Campbell Sr, Bass Yakker, slothman and 1 other 1 3

straw hat Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Sorry to reply so late. Slow day. Fish have started to move deeper and are very spread out. Got to keep moving. Good luck.
liphunter Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 Thanks straw hat. Yea I had a slow day today. Lost a real nice one at boat. Was kind of day dreaming while working a jig when he hit. I knew I didn't have a good hook set on him. But it was my first day retirement!!! I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to lose him. lol Luck is where preparation meets opportunity...... straw hat Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 May the Lord bless you with many fishing trips during your retirement and may they all be rewarding. liphunter 1
