Well...we had so much fun last year at Schell Osage...I put in for another reservation this year....and just heard today we got fountain grove on December 9th.

I think it's similar to Schell Osage...but not sure?  Has anyone been to fountain grove?  Any tips?  How deep is the water in the boat lanes?

We'll take 1436 jon boat...and we'll try to get a blind...I've got a small mud buddy...and 18hp evinrude.  If it's big water probably take 18...if it's like Schell I'll take the mud motor...thanks

Go with the mud motor. Keep in mind that there are no boat hides so bring a cover. Nice pits to hunt out of and plenty of room so bring a small bbq pit and some brats, you'll be glad you did!!! Don't forget the kraut. Have never hunted the wade and shoot but I looks very open to me. Good luck, some of us were not so lucky for the 3rd year in a row👎

Not drawn. Again.

I really wish they would implement a priority points system where your odds increase every year you don’t get drawn. I really wish they would get rid of the quick draw, but that isn’t gonna happen. Since it isn’t going away, I really wish they would do priority points on there too.

I put in all the time for quick draw (every week last year, for example) and never get drawn. I think I’ve been drawn 3 or 4 times since it has been enacted. Most of those times were after the hard freeze had set in and all of those times were late December. I’ve gotten one good hunt from quick draw since it started. I really don’t like it at all.

Fountain Grove could be awesome back in the day.  The main memory I have from there is being in some of the stickiest gumbo mud ever experienced by me in water that was within a couple of inches of the tops of my waders.

That and flight after of flight of teal during early season over too many acres of smartweed to be able to fully comprehend and appreciate.

I’ve always heard good things about fountain grove (mostly from the old timers I used to hunt with), but I’ve never been there myself. I’m gonna have to make my way up there one of these days and check it out.

The Grand River bottoms up there are quite something.  I've seen herds of 100+ deer in the winter.  Clouds of mallards.  Vee after Vee of Canada, Snow and other lesser geese.  Good thread for me at least.
