Normally this is the time of year when I try to refill my freezer with

deer meat, but being lucky enough to replenish early , I was

wanting to try and get some fillets for the freezer also. I noticed that  the

information here has slowed down a bit, maybe because of the time of year.

I'm not accustomed to fishing this time of year, can you

let me know some good patterns or lures to use for crappie

and bass for fall and some areas to be looking. I'm in the north shore area.

5mm

Thanks,.  Chris

Typically around Thanksgiving you will find Crappie suspended under docks.  Just pitch a jig in there, let it fall on a tight line, and wait for the "tick".  Keep trying different docks in different places until you find a dozen or so that have fish holding under them......Then make a milk-run of it and load the boat.

Last time I was out they weren't where they were supposed to be.  I got so insulted that I haven't been back out since.   I'll try again after things have had time to change.  I refuse to take another butt kickin' like I did that day.

That’s funny. Lol, I’ll be down next week, see what we find.

I fish pretty far up around 85mm on the osage at least once at this time of year and typically catch one or two whites while we work the banks and docks for LMB's.  I'd rather fish for whites and crappie, but I'm overruled.  If someone catches one on a spinner bait, I'll cast back in with a white crank bait and rarely succeed with a 2nd white.  We rarely catch a 2nd one on spinnerbaits either where we caught the 1st and haven't caught more than 3 out of one spot.  I know whites and hybrids are supposed to be numerous way up the Osage, but haven't experienced it much myself.

It's likely that you are just happening upon schools that are on the move.  The next time that happens head immediately to the nearest shallow flat or long tapering point, and just wait for them to pile in.

I have a reliable report that hybrids are on at Truman - both on flats and at the dam-  as are the blue catfish.

Thanks for the report.  I wish I had time to bring my boat and hit Truman, but not this time.  Love those blues and would love to get into some hybrids.
