I have been told that walleye appear as a curve, bow shape on sonar.  I have seen a lot of these on my garmin, and that crappie will just appear as blips due to size.  I am still learning how to get all the benefits from my sonar.  Have side and down imaging on them to.  Any advice on them would be greatly appreciated

I have noticed on my Garmins that it seems to depend on the speed of the boat and activity of the fish.

If the boat is moving along at walking speed panfish seem to show up as footballs, and larger fish as arches. If I'm sitting still, they will show up as straight horizontal lines.

On DI, fish are supposed to show up as white specks, although I don't have as much experience with it. I captured these a month ago, thought it was pretty interesting.

I fished Thursday evening, didn't have much time. Only caught one crappie, same spot that I was tearing them up at a week before.

My bass boat is broke down, so I was in my little boat without all the fancy electronics. I'll use that as my excuse.

Thanks for the information.  I am still trying to figure out all the imaging etc on the garmins.  For as much as I have invested in them I need to become an expert at them, lol.   Getting the brush pile gps points loaded on my lake map has made a big difference in my success in finding the crappie for this winter.  Being able to go from pile to pile picking up some at each brush pile is the best thing since sliced bread!   Not all piles produce , but sat on 1 a week ago and caught close to 50 off it.  Not all keepers, but a lot of fun.  Hope you get your boat going soon.  They say the best days in a boat owners life is the day they buy it and sell it!

I don't know about garmin but on my lowrance It matters if the the target is moving or not, a moving fish will appear as a line relative to it's size, or rather density.  I have caught these deep walleye before, I would guess they are going after bait that didn't make it through the cold, or sometimes it seems like the work under other feeding fish, picking up the stunned and wounded.

I can always tell a drum by the way the vector toward the lure, those suckers can flat out feel the vibration of a falling spoon !

Yep. And for every pile that is marked, there are a dozen more that aren't. Some of my favorites (which I found trolling) are not marked on Navionics or the MOfish app.

Last year I did all my winter fishing at Pomme (which is also where the above images were captured), and did pretty well over there. Stockton has always been a bit more of a puzzle for me.

Thanks for the information, I was not aware the lines meant moving fish , I just thought was junk in the water!   I have watched several of your videos and that you use spoons, I have tried binks spoons but not had any luck as of yet.  I know they will catch fish but still a puzzle to me.   What type of rod and line do you use for them?  Thanks again for sharing information about electronics, I am still learning!

Yes I have seen a lot more brush piles that are not marked, the lake is just full of them!  I have only been fishing Stockton a few years, so still trying to figure it out.

You might want to go to Bass Boat Central and look in the Garmin interpretation forum.  They should have lots of screen shots for you to peruse.
