Members Saltydawg
Headed up Wednesday to look for crappie has anyone been crazy enough to go out in this cold? Look forward to my first winter crappie trip. Have heard lots of good things about this time of year. Any tips on depth and structure to target ? Will post a report
waterpossum
I had some luck Wednesday fishing 16-20' deep main lake brush in the Ruark area. Water temp was 45. Had 10 keeper crappie. 4 big white bass and a slew of short crappie. The fish were hanging just off the bottom so I tried to fish the outer edges of brush, dropping the jig all the way to the bottom , reeling about four or five turns then lifting and dropping the Bobby Garland jig.. A lot of the fish hit on the slack line, so I didn't feel those bites. Just felt heavy. I didn't catch them out of all the brush piles, but when I did they seem to be concentrated in a small area on the brush. Fished from 1:30 -4:30. Best of luck. I think you will do real good. There were a lot of boats way off shore, so I guess there are a lot of different depths and ways to catch them. dan hufferd, straw hat, liphunter and 2 others 3

Members Saltydawg
As a side note, I saw that Baitmasters in Aldrich carries Binks Spoons. I picked up a couple in the 1/4 ounce, havent tried them yet. They have really made that a nice place to stop. dan hufferd, straw hat and Old dog 417 2
