tjm Posted February 6, 2019 Posted February 6, 2019 Not ever having used braid, don't nail clippers work it?

rps Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Laugh at me as old school - my pocket knife cuts a clean line. The only time the knife is difficult is when I need a nip close to the knot. Then I use the line knippers that tear the line.
Lancer09 Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Go to a fly shop and buy the some cheap serrated tying scissors. Cut real tight and have cut loose braid for me with no trouble. Serration helped i thought. I had a few pairs of MFC scissors and 1 got put into the bass gear kit. Gavin 1
Gavin Posted February 7, 2019 Posted February 7, 2019 Anvil serrated scissors wil do the job well. Blue dipped handles. Available at any fly shop.

I bought a few for my grandkids. I kept a pair at my fishing table to open packages and by chance picked them up to cut braid tags when I tied on some lures. They cut the braid like a hot knife thru butter. I now have a couple pair on the boat. My local WW stopped carrying Fiskars a while back, wished I had caught that sale, 99 cents is dirt cheap. Jeff I second what @rps said. Old school here too. I use my everyday clip carry knife. Keep it surgically sharp. Bummer you cannot get Fiskars scissors. I got mine at wally world. I have two small pair from fabric department on my fly tying table. Quillback Posted February 7, 2019 Author Posted February 7, 2019 I'll have to check the fabric dept., maybe they have them there.
Members Huntingducks117 Posted February 7, 2019 Members Posted February 7, 2019 I've used the Berkley Hot Line Braid Cutter. It requires batteries and costs $9.99, but it works great. In addition, I use it to burn out details and eye holes for my deer hair flies, and poppers that i tie. BilletHead 1
