Members Dirtrider389 Posted March 6, 2019 Members Posted March 6, 2019 Built my first rod last weekend. 7 foot light action spinning. Turned out pretty darn good for my first one ness, BilletHead, Johnsfolly and 3 others 6
rps Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 For a first rod, that is outstanding! My first rod was in the 80's. It was not nearly as well made. Anymore, since I make only for myself, I do not do the gorgeous "bling" effects you built in, but you did a great job with them. Did you use the Forhan lock on the guides? From the picture I cannot tell. Great job!
Bushbeater Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 Hope it fishes as nice as it looks. The only thing I might change would be the exposed threads on the reel seat. I like the hooded locking nuts.
Members Dirtrider389 Posted March 7, 2019 Author Members Posted March 7, 2019 I did not use a locking wrap on this one I might try it on the next one...the reel seat is just one that came in the kit, mudhole has really nice turn key kits to get started with
wily Posted April 7, 2019 Posted April 7, 2019 How much do you have in it? Just curious...can you save money? I enjoy making my own jigs...and basic fly tying...but to me the blanks seem really expensive

I enjoy making my own jigs...and basic fly tying...but to me the blanks seem really expensive I have found that my made rods do not really save me money. However, I will note that I use the best components and build it exactly the way I want. That means my rods fit my way of fishing, rather than fishing that fits the rods.
