Never fished the sac before. What kind of species can I expect around this access? Should I go up stream or down stream?

From Bank? If so everything that swims in Truman depending on Season and the run upstream. You cannot go up or downstream very much due to private ground on both sides. This being said there is some catching at the bridge access. I have seen bait fisherman actually fishing from top of bridge. Very ,very dangerous and I wish the state would stop it before someone gets killed. Highway speed limit is 60 there but that means 65. Semi trucks will about blow you over. Be safe if you fish there and please pick up trash the ones who don't care leave,

Sorry I should have been more specific. I have a kayak that I'll be fishing in and don't mind walking up a few riffles if I needed to to get to a good hole. Thanks for the help. Actually went to check it out today but the it looked too high and muddy so I decided against it.

Glad you checked it out. The Kayak can help but also get you into more trouble. This river is fickle and I would err on caution what ever you do. You are basically on a tail water even this far down from Stockton dam. The banks are steep in most of the river. It can go from mild to downright dangerous in a matter of minutes. When deciding to navigate this river there are a number of things to consider. Study these things and all three play into this river flow.

The USGS Advanced Hydrologic Prediction site, https://water.weather.gov/ahps2/index.php?wfo=sgf

Corps of engineers water management, https://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/Water-Management/

And finally the Southwest Power Administration,  https://www.swpa.gov/generationschedules.aspx

Have fun exploring this river but please be careful until you know it well,
