I originally looked at the Ranger angler but the rear deck had a raised rail about 2 to 3 inches high and about 3 inchers wide behind the rear fishing chair...………...I was concerned that my wife might be fighting a fish and trip over that rail/cap.  I really don't want to fish her out of the lake, and then I looked at the Reata, and it doesn't have the "trip rail" behind the seat, it's smooth like the rest of the rear deck...………………….so we picked the Reata even though the rod locker and front deck was not as good for fishing as the Angler.  I can make do with the rod locker and fishing deck not being ideal in order to not worry about my wife getting excited (and she does get excited catching fish) and tripping and falling out of the boat!!!!!!  🤣

Thanks!  I believe we will use it a lot more ............and post more reports that don't include "zero", "skunked ", and "rough day", because we are on the water more over the course of the year!!!  We may be able to use the fantastic information provided by all the experts on this site!!

Big thank you to everyone for the advice and information!  Oh, and I do have a boat for sale!!!!  😁

I had the Ranger 1850 Reata and loved it.  Had a Yamaha 150 4 stroke and never had a problem with the motor or the boat. Top speed was 50 and it was very stable and great in rough water. Used to fish early and take the kids tubing when I got back. Nice boat to fish out of as well with good live wells and ample storage. Just a great compromise fish/ ski boat that I highly recommend.  A safe and rock solid boat for sure.

Congrats Larry.  I didn’t realize you had already ordered your new Reata when I posted above.  You are gonna love fishing in it.  You are a lucky man to have a wife who enjoys fishing and a new Ranger!
